But that's the point, what ample evidence? I don't see any and that's why I am not religious. Why can you not just tolerate other peoples beliefs?
Don't get me wrong, I am not completely against the idea of a 'god' and if I was shown undeniable concrete evidence I would change my mind.
I do believe that there is something behind this world, something more powerful than man, but I do not believe that it is a 'god' as you could call it.
I find it hard to buy into the Bible, a book that has changed so much over the thousands of years that it shouldn't even be called the Bible at all. Maybe if I could see the original bible, the dead sea scrolls, but of course they are locked up under the Pentagon's control and no one is allowed to see them.
I also find it hard to believe that we were placed here, evolution seems a much more plausible idea. And the idea that 'god' created EVERYTHING. But that can't be true. 'God' didn't create the lightbulb, Thomas Edison did.
Some of you are saying 'oh, people who don't believe in god are blind. Even if they saw him they wouldn't believe', well how would you know? what did I say earlier? You also say 'they don't believe in god but they believe in ghosts and tarot cards', your whole idea of 'god' is supernatural but you turn a blind eye to other peoples 'supernatural' beliefs. What does that say about you?
You are so sure that 'god' exists, what would you do if you found out you were wrong?
heir_to_christ- I am not religious because of MY OWN conscious decision, I think A LOT and it's got nothing to do with peer pressure. People take drugs and bully because of peer pressure, you don't see crowds of kids going 'awww come on man, be an atheist, we thought you were cool'!

Define 'God' if it's a force that acts upon the world that we do not have a rational explanation for then yes. Evidence surrounds us, however, we are limited by our knowledge and experience. People used to believe that the thunder god existed but now we know that it is a case of the atmosphere releasing a lot of charge to the ground.
Read the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy for the version of man beating god (he disappears in a poof of logic)

Because they do not think enough, or peer pressure. I agree there is ample evidence, one just has to look at creation or think of the intricet details of the way their body works. In order to have a design there has to be a designer.

Its not that they don't believe because in crisis the first person they go to is god. Acceptance...remember doubting Thomas? Now letting God into your life is another story...People don't like won't take it to heart that God exists without evidence..! Yet they believe in ghosts, taro cards and if those things exists ehich touch on evil sources then you must give the big guy a break..God exists..Do you always do what your earthly father asks of you? I bet not! Does he always answer your questions or does he on occasions say think about what you do and I trust you to come to your own conclussion. Our father in heaven lets us do things the same way! In the bible its called free will!

If you think the bible is proof that there is a God...let me tell you something. Men Lie. Men wrote the bible. Besides that point, the fact that the bible has been translated an unknown number of times,m things get messed up when you translate them. Also Kings in the past have changed the Bible to help enforce their laws. So there there can be numerous flaws in the Bible. And if not the Bible what other proof is there?

There is no evidence that's why. The scientific method is based on evidence so if there was anything suggesting the existence of God it would accept it but there isn't so it doesn't. Anyway even religous people accept that they have faith which is blind acceptance without anything to back it up.

Ample evidence? You are probably refering to the old,,,,look around you, life on this planet is proof......well it isn't. I look around and see the diversity and complexity of life around me and that only enforces my belief that life evolved on this planet and was not just placed here.

WHAT EVIDENCE?
besides a book of squiqqles that has been butchered, edited, killed over and killed for over th course of time?
religion is the problem - not terrorists - in a world without religion, youd have good peple doing good things and bad people doing bad things - no religion to justify it
