launches a missile towards Alaska. I don't see anything on the news. What the hell are they talking about? I didn't think N. Korea could get a missile that far anyway and why would they even try that? Maybe because they don't aim well. I know they are going to be testing missiles but has anyone seen anything on the news in the last few minutes and can you share with us who are at work please? Thank you.

The most recent news I can find says they are *threatening* to launch more missiles. And there does appear to be activity at the launch site. No one knows how long they might take to get one ready. Not for sure. The spooks only have educated guesses.

They have missiles that *should* be able to reach the West Coast of the US, but so far they've blown up. Whether the North Koreans did that to fake us out, or just built crappy missiles is anyone's guess. (The spooks sure aren't sharing, if they know.)

And we *do* have systems to shoot down missiles like that, but the systems only work part of the time. So if they fire a missile at us and it doesn't explode, we won't know if we can stop it until we try.

As to why they'd try that, while many North Koreans are just as sane as you and I, they have been fed lies their entire life, by a regime led by a man as crazy as *any* leader in history has ever been. That's right; the dictator of North Korea, who has missiles and nukes, and who knows what bio-weapons, to play with, is a batty as Adolf Hitler, Nero, Caligula, or any other ruling nutcase you can think of.

Which is scary, but if the US decides we need to stop him, I hope we drop a small, tactical nuke on his palace to take him and his flunkies out, instead of nuking all the poor, innocent North Koreans who never had a choice in who ruled them, like a lot of idiots seem to want.

North Korea is rattling its cage by threatening everyone with their vast resources and technology. The missiles so far are harmless short range ones and the long-range one (which could reach Alaska) failed a few seconds after launch (not towards Alaska). I suspect inside the country the news is grandiose and contains spectacular claims at how they have cowered their enemies with the achievement of their scientists.

I don't understand why the west capitulates to Iran or N Korea to keep them from developing their own nuke capability by literally giving them "peaceful" nuclear reactors.

Even China, North Korea's benefactor is starting to get pissed at them.

I think who ever you heard that from was wrong. Last I heard (last night on the news) N. Korea had 3 short range missiles on the launch pads to test, but no long range ones. They said there would be ample time to know if there was going to be another long range one on the pad because it takes a day or two to transport one to the launch pad and another 2-3 days after that to fuel it up.

So, I don't think there is a long range one that is a threat at this time (I have the news on right now and there is no mention of that anywhere).

Have a great day.

Spinning out of control soon after launch of their 3 stage T-2 on Tues. gives us in the western US a little breather...

altho: read the following
"An Air Force installation in Colorado Springs and one near Denver are operating with heightened security.

The Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, which houses NORAD, is now at "Bravo-Plus".

There are five levels of alert: normal, Alpha (low), Bravo (medium), Charlie (high) and Delta (critical). “Bravo-Plus” is slightly higher than a medium threat level.

The Cheyenne Mountain Air Station And Buckley Air Force Base are among four installations in the country at the higher alert level ordered last week by then- Acting-Commander of Air Force Space Command, General Fred Klotz.

Space Command would not comment on the reason for the security increase.

The order also affects Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and Patrick air force base in Florida."

it was a test launch of North Korea's from almost a week ago. It was on the news then plus the government is doing no aggressive action.
