This is not easy to answer and will need a lot of research or an absolute expert.
There are certain time periods during which some regiments had a very short life span. I would look into the early years of regular forces, the time of the English Civil War, the Cromwellian Era, the (second) Boer War and the First World War. In all of these periods there were new regiments raised for the conflict, but disbanded again afterwards.
I would contact the Army Museum in London (Chelsea) and ask them. They have the lists of all the regiments of the British Army from all times.
P.S. The unit from the (Royal) Sandringham Estate mentioned by another member above was not the Norfolk Regiment, but only a company within it. It consisted entirely of estate workers, and the Captain was the estate manager. They were originally a Territorial unit, but got mobilised and sent to Gallipoli, where they all perished without a trace on one single day.

Not sure, but during WWI the Norfolk Regiment (Sandringham Pals) had a very short existence. Turks wiped out the regiment, but legend held that the men were taken up in a cloud. BBC made a fantastic film about their story in "All the King's Men" (shown on PBS Masterpiece Theatre in the States).

Most likely it would fall in data protection - Somethign to do with the psycology of British soldiers being kept a secret...But tbh, ppl don't really desert any more because they're not drafted...They want to be there But if they did, it would either be in the days of King George, or today, probably because they've had a break down, like best friends dieing in front of them or something
