It's not what you say but how you say it? What if I said, "you're intelligent"? Would it matter how I said it than? If I said "you're fat", THAN it's all about how I said it.

They just dont like the truth and their excuse is "it's how you said it"

Actually if you said "Your intelligent" it does matter how you say it. If your drop dead serious then yea your meaning. But if you say with a sarcasmic tone then its like actually calling them stupid. And for "your fat" its the same thing. You could laugh and say Your Fat and people would kno that your joking or telling the truth. It really does depend how you say it.

It just means there is a way to tell someone the harsh truth without hurting their feelings. If you want your friend to lose weight for a legit health reason, why not use innuendo? Only as a last resort go: "We've been freidns for a long time so listen up. You know what, doofus, I tried to hint at it but you're flat out fat. If you don't lose weight you're either headed for a heart attack or going to end up a late stage diabetic and lose both your legs. I care about you and I'm telling you this because I do not want to lose you as a friend. If you can't take the direct truth and no longer want to talk to me ever again--fine, but get a clue!"

Of course, it's just a way to say that you accept the truth but that you're hurt by the way it was said! Actually, you're completely outraged by the truth itself.
