You should have sent the food back if it wasnt to your liking. Also, you should not use the food as your basis for tip... the waiter didnt cook it... if he was a jerk, or gave terrible service dont tip... if he gave mediocre service and was polite leave a basic 10% tip, if he went out of his way to make your experience enjoyable leave a generous tip. Wait staff don't make much as a wage, tips can really make or break a waiter.

Get your $ back for the meal but leave the tip!!! Most of the time cold food is the kitchen or runners fault! Don't punish the wait staff!

Well unless your waiter/waitress was the cook also, I would say yes. It's not the server's fault the food was cold. Unless they took forever bringing the food to you. Then I would not leave a tip.

You should have complained when you felt that the food was cold. I would tip, depending on the situation - if the waiter was willing to fix it, he would get a lesser tip than I would have given him without the problem.. If he didn't care, then don't leave him anything.

Was it the server's fault the food was cold? What you should have done was to complaint and ask that the problem be corrected. You should leave a small tip, to convey your displeasure. Leaving nothing just makes you look cheap or forgetful.

You should have sent the food back immediately and they should have given you a free dessert or drink. Never except a meal that's not good. As for the tip, if your waitress tried to remedy the situation and it wasn't her fault she should still get something; if she wasn't helpful, nothing.

Was it the server's fault it was cold, or the kitchens? Did you server provide excellent service otherwise, or were they slow and forgetful? Don't forget, the server merely carries the tray of food to you: he/she has nothing to do with preparation. I tip on service, and if food needs improvement, or is exceptionally good, I send comments back to the kitchen with the server.

The only way I wouldn't leave a tip is if I told the server and they did nothing about it. Otherwise, leave a smaller than normal tip.

cold food for $ 100, heck no, the best tip you could leave them is don't cut down cherry trees in the middle of winter in your red long-johns

If the food was bad, it is most likely the fault of the cooks, not the waiter/waitress. There is no reason to be rude to the waitress by not tipping.
