Our two older boys 10 and 8 are devistated. She was literally our oldest's bestfriend. Due to her death, I purchased Where the Red Fern Grows, for each of the boys to read. (They loved the book by the way.) They still miss her immensly, but would now like us to get a Redbone Hound.

We are in Wisconsin and can not locate a pup anywhere. Does anyone know of someone breeding or selling them?

I would appreciate any lead possible at this point.

Wow, I am having a bit of trouble finding a breeder for Redbones. They are listed on a few rare breed sites, but I haven't found a breeder yet. I'll keep looking...

And I just don't think petfinder.com is going to help you on this one. It's worth a shot, but I'd be surprised if they had any honest-to-goodness redbones listed.

Edit: Here's a link with info, anyway. They have no breeders on record, though. http://www.rarebreed.com/breeds/redbone/rbcoon_ukc_std.html

Hmm... You could go here and try their messge board. These guys should be able to point you in the right direction. It's the United Kennel Club. I see on their schedule, they just had "National Redbone Days" in Ohio last week.

Best of luck to you, and I hope you find your puppy...

WAIT! I found them! It's on the UKC site, but it took me a minute to locate them. Here it is:

Alton Key or Jamie Kuhls 4500 Missouri Road,
Marshall, Wisconsin 53559 (608) 764-5125

J. Wayne Downing S 1110 Downing Road,
Hillsboro, Wisconsin 54634 (608) 489-3945

Steve Kohl W777 Blueberry Rd,
Granton, Wisconsin 54436 (715) 884-2475 or 1-800-791-9071

Edit: GetEm, I live in the upper Midwest, right next to Wisconsin, and I haven't seen a Redbone since I was a small child. I'm sure there are a lot more of them farther south...

Defintly try the UKC site, that would be your best bet. The popularity of these guys is about to skyrocket, as AKC is about to recognize them fully. I would tell you how hard it can be to have a hound as a pet, but if you had a Plott, I guess you are up to it!!!
