If you are an atheist, imagine a world where God exists, just for 10 seconds close your eyes, try it, does it change anything for you,

If you believe in God, just close your eyes 10 seconds, and imagine the world in which there is no God, but the whole God thing was like Santa, someone told it to you for whatever reason,
just try it,

k,

now for those who GENUINELY tried it, please type what you saw in those ten seconds, even if it was nothing

It doesn't change anything for me. Whether God exists or not, I'm still going to be the person I am today. I will always be good to people just for the sake of humanity and peace. There will always be hate in the world, there will always be war. Whether God exists or not, people will still be who they are today, the conclusion of that will just give people one less thing to argue about.

By the way, This is a great question that was obviously developed to make people think and step outside of their little box for once. And yet still, people call you a monkey and such, which shows right there that people will never change, people will never open their minds to anything other than what they believe. Some people will always continue to be naive, self-centered, and close-minded.

I thank you for posting this question. It made me think, and it really made me realize some things from others answers.

If I were an atheist, and were to imagine a world where God exists, I would be too busy denying the facts or questioning the validity of the evidence to the extent that I'd miss the reality of his existence.

I already believe in God, so if I were to imagine a world in which there is no God, I will still carry on being me and live in the same way believing in God and that the way I've chosen to live my life is a good way. My belief in God remains a belief - both personal and within our community, we do not go about looking or giving proof of God's existence to validate or justify our belief. We chose our Paths with our eyes and heart open.

Wow. Imagining a world without God.......it seems depressing to me. Those 10 seconds were miserable. I didn't SEE anything, but I felt hopeless. I'm sure I wasn't getting the whole experience because God is so ingrained in my mind that I don't think I can imagine a world COMPLETELY without Him. It was a relief to open my eyes and know that it was just my imagination and I could come back to reality. Just those 10 seconds were enough for me, so now I'll go thank Him again for letting me be raised in a home where I was taught about Him.

I think everyones interpretation of this will be different. I am an Atheist and when I imagin a world with a God it may not be the same as everyone else. I imagin what I want my world to be like and then put God in it. I see him taking care of the poor and sick, punishing the bad and rewarding the good. There is no "if you don't worship me and do exactly what I say you are going to be tortured for eternity". As long as your good he's good. But that is just my make believe world.

I think it is amazing that believers are so closed minded that they can not even imagin. Are they really that afraid of their "all loving" God.

The world itself would seem no different to me. An existence of God or not only affects me in the afterlife. The natural world still has laws to abide by. Truths that don't need a religious context to be true. I follow those laws and I am successful. Worrying about whether a God figure exists or not is really me worrying about what he thinks of me (or why I'm wasting my time on a 'santa' God). I figure if God exists and I lived true to my heart, I'm good to go. If he doesn't, what was the point to worrying about it? So God freaks could like me? Love me or hate me, I'm me and nothing else. And when I'm gone, the world will keep on turning.

I don't live in an imaginary world. There's just Jesus. In the world I live in now Jesus is being pushed away by many who choose to live in denial. And wish to impose the religion of Atheism on me. This sin filled world is dying. Imagine accepting Jesus as your Savior and then having to live among people who think you're a fool. I choose Jesus. For everyone born of God overcomes the world.

An atheist, imagining a world where God exists;

I saw swamp land with mean creatures floating around whom were unable to cry, unable to laugh and couldn't be taught.

As one who has lived both as a person of faith and as a person of reason, I find it easy to imagine both worlds. But it takes more than ten seconds to overcome a lifetime of learned prejudices and misconceptions and work your way through all the implications. For many the evolution from faith to reason is a long process of exploration and self-evaluation that requires a level of courage and honesty most aren't used to expecting of themselves. And I imagine the reverse process would be similar. It may be easy for one to call oneself a person of faith, but to fully embrace all that this declaration means takes time and true dedication.

Great question.

If a supernatural agency, such as a god, existed, then the long history of humanity, the present conditions of the world, and the sheer savagery of nature demonstrate one thing: if God exists, then She is sadistic and cruel and delights in watching Her creation suffer.

(Atheist)
I guess i saw a world in which a very human god (many flaws) made everything very poorly (out of boredom) and watched it all go to hell. That's honestly the only way I could make sense of the existence of a god.
