Not "for the money" answers. I dont think people know how the oil business works, the refinment, where it is refined, who dictates the price of oil per barrel, how many millions of gallons the USA uses, and how much oil consumption has increased in the last 20 years.

At least USA has gasoline. There are countries that are rationing gasoline, and have been rationing for a long time now.

No. Only 7% of oil is imported from the Middle East. Not enough to fight for. Bush was just playing 'my pee pee is bigger than yours' and started a war.

The official story on Iraq has never made sense. The connection that the Bush administration has tried to draw between Iraq and al-Qaida has always seemed contrived and artificial. In fact, it was hard to believe that smart people in the Bush administration would start a major war based on such flimsy evidence. The pieces just didn't fit. Something else had to be going on; something was missing. In recent days, those missing pieces have finally begun to fall into place. As it turns out, this is not really about Iraq. It is not about weapons of mass destruction, or terrorism, or Saddam, or U.N. resolutions. This war, should it come, is intended to mark the official emergence of the United States as a full-fledged global empire, seizing sole responsibility and authority as planetary policeman. It would be the culmination of a plan 10 years or more in the making, carried out by those who believe the United States must seize the opportunity for global domination, even if it means becoming the "American imperialists" that our enemies always claimed we were. Once that is understood, other mysteries solve themselves. For example, why does the administration seem unconcerned about an exit strategy from Iraq once Saddam is toppled? Because we won't be leaving. Having conquered Iraq, the United States will create permanent military bases in that country from which to dominate the Middle East, including neighboring Iran.
This Is The Real Goal Of USA In Iraq.

Try and check Iraq's true oil production right now. You can't. It's all handled by the US army and that information is TOP SECRET.
Why? Because the Oil is leaving Iraq in tankers hired by Halliburton straight to US refineries. No money is changing hands. And a very large percentage of the oil is being stockpiled by FEMA and the US army. Why? because when you cut off the supply to your enemies, you'd better be damn sure you have enough on hand to beat them.
But since the Iraqi insurgents seem to be doing a good job of handing the US army it's a ss on a weekly basis, Oil isn't the king people think it is.

True, US have crude oil n gasoline n stuff. But does it USE it? No. It has been taking oil frrom all other countries. It has been circulating the price. It took over oil n Iraq. If u could have read between the lines, it was v v v obvious when this war started.

This conflict has roots that go back to the Crusades and control of the Holy Lands, but what's going on today is economics, not religious.

A few years ago, all OPEC nations switched from trading in US dollars to Euros which is a threat to US economy. The death toll isn't the only thing that's doubled recently, so have Halliburton's profits.

Why ask a question and answer it yourself.
But here's another answer AIR BASES if we could have gotten what george w thought and his friends we would have air base right in the middle of that whole region.
Georgie and cheney have enough oil I'm surprized they haven't slipped on it,oh! I'm sorry they have.
It was never for oil,it was for POWER yes oil brings money and power but to slowly AIR BASES do it much faster.

USA is not in Iraq only for oil.But it may be one of the reasons for attacking Iraq. But main reason was to destroy Saddam government. And to kill Moslims as well.Offcourse Bush likes to see blood every where.
Another reason I think is to surround Iran.May be I am wrong. But the answer to your question is that oil was not the priority.

It is simple. We had to get rid of the dictator and establish a relationship with the rest of the country to develope a trade for oil. If we help them settle their country then they will help us.
