Plaquenil. This medication was first developed for the treatment of Malaria. In the 1950's it was discovered that Plaquenil decreased inflammation of RA. I've been on the med for 2 years due to Lupus.

Any anti-inflammatory, like alieve or Tylenol will do. If you have a rheumatologist, see if he can prescribe a stronger ant-inflammatory if the Tylenol won't work. You have to move your joints as well, because you will stiffen, just like any type of arthritis. Take it easy, though. Because of the nature of RA (degenerative joint disease), you may want to also take glucosamine and condrotin.

Your Dr. should be able to give you the best advice on your treatment. Basic anti inflamatories are usually what they start out with. Depending on the pain level determines the type of treatment.
