Running burns more calories per minute, but truthfully, whichever you enjoy more and are more likely to do is the better cardio exercise for you. If you'll play DDR for an hour, but will only do a 15 minute run, then you'll burn more calories playing DDR. So, go with whichever you enjoy more.

I think DDR would be better assuming you are playing at a high level, because its more like sprinting and it builds up your endurance, speed, agility, foot and eye coordination, as well as strengthens your legs and heart.
I know after I play my heart is beating like crazy and I'm dripping in sweat. Plus its 100x more fun than running.
But thats all assuming you're playing on heavy mode, because light mode and standard don't do much.

running, if you run hard, more of a intense cardio workout as you are forcing the heart to pump more blood to be reoxygenated and if you run outdoors, this is definetly the case as factors of wind, sun, rain or humidity make your body work harder than you would when playing DDR (inside)
