Buy yourself something you can wear everyday! When you have that feeling to smoke you will see that item and hopefully talk yourself out of the urge. Examples-a watch, jewelry,or shoes. And tell yourself you will be able to more things once you stop wasting $ on cigs! Good Luck!

No sarcasm intended... the way that works for you.
I stopped the day I found out I was pregnant and that was 19 years ago. I'd been smoking about half a pack a day for about a year. Sometimes, I still want one when I am out with friends or at a club... but it's not that hard to say no...
My sister smoked for 15 years about a pack a day. She used hypnosis. It didn't work for her hubby or mom-in-law, but it did for her... for over a year. Then, she started up again when life got stressful.
My advice is to make the biggest change you can handle. Stop altogether if you can. And make the lifestyle changes that support your choice. Watch for your triggers that make you want one and have a ready plan of action. Your triggers might be social (work breaks, clubs), physical (after eating, sex), or mental/emotional (boredom, stress, fun).
Some people make a list of reasons why they quit, to look at when they are tempted.
Good luck!

Only your will power to quit smoking can help you. If you don't have a will power, no method or remedy can help you. First ensure that you want quit smoking, then give it up and forbid to smoke even if your best friend asks you to smoke with him/her for his/her company or some other reason. I hope you can do it very easily if you have a will power ??? Can I challenge you, you don't have a will power????????????????????

There is no "right way," nor are there any hard and fast rules for quitting. However you decide to quit is up to you. You have plenty of options: quit "cold turkey," chew nicotine gum, use the patch or get counseling.
Research has shown, though, that using some form of nicotine replacement or participating in formal smoking cessation counseling can improve your chances of quitting and avoiding relapse.

First, you must want to quit. If you don't want to quit, no medicine or approach is going to work. Once you have the desire to quit, you need to gradually ween your body off the addiction to nicotine using one of those special chewing gums or patches.
A good way to kick-start your desire to quit is to go to a hospital and speak to some people that are dying of lung cancer.
