made? they're picked from the roebiscatwicus tree, aka the crayola tree. they are indegenous to the southeastern quadrant of the amazon rainforest, and, for inexplicable reasons, also within a 3-block area in northeastern new jersey. they fruit year-round, but are most robust and pungent during the autumn harvest season. oddly, or perhaps not, the lumber from this tree is used in the manufacture of fisher price toy kitchens. the exact nature of the relationship is undisclosed, but santa and three of the especially shorter elves are affiliated in all this somehow.

How Crayola® Crayons are Made...
STEP 1:
Wax & Pigment
Crayola Crayons are made from two basic ingredients: paraffin wax and pigment. Heated tanks store the wax. Pre-measured pigments are added to the wax and mixed.
STEP 2:
Flat Bed Molding
The paraffin wax and powdered pigment mixture are poured into the crayon molds, filling the molds from the tip up. The wax mixture is cooled using a water cooling system.
STEP 3:
Quality Assurance
Each Crayola® Crayon is inspected. Molded crayons that do not pass inspection are remelted and remolded. Quality crayons are fed into a cylinder.
STEP 4:
Labeling
Labels are then fed onto the rotating cylinder while a white roller presses the label against the glue and the label wraps around the crayon twice for strength. Crayola Crayon labels are printed in 18 different colors.
STEP 5 :
Packaging
Crayola® Crayons are packaged in different size boxes and packages.

A stick of colored wax, charcoal, or chalk, used for drawing.
A drawing made with one of these sticks.
crayon, any drawing material available in stick form. The term includes charcoal, conte crayon, chalk, pastel, grease crayon, litho crayon, and children's wax colors. The pigment is often bound with gum tragacanth or wax, and the sticks are wrapped in paper or embedded in wood.
A crayon is a stick of colored wax, charcoal, chalk, or other material used for writing and drawing. A crayon made of oiled chalk is called an oil pastel; when made of pigment with a dry binder, it is simply a pastel. A grease pencil is made of colored hardened grease and is useful for marking on hard, glossy surfaces such as porcelain or glass.
Wax crayons are commonly used for drawing and coloring by children, although adult artists have occasionally produced works in crayon (though not commonly, for one reason because of the difficulty in mixing colours). Many schools across the globe have crayons for the children. They are relatively easy to work with, blunt (removing any risk from sharp points), non-toxic, and available in a wide variety of colors. The world's largest manufacturer of wax crayons is Binney & Smith Inc., the manufacturer of Crayola® brand crayons, which are made of paraffin wax, a petroleum product. Soybean oil can also be used to make crayons.
