It is a bad taste, isn't it. But, it is perfectly normal. The eustachian tube connects your inner ear to your throat for drainage purposes.

If I recall correctly, the eustachian tubes connects the middle ear space to the back of the throat. When you put ear drops in your ear canal, that's in the outer ear... The tympanic membrane or eardrum should separate the two parts of the ear.
If your eardrums are punctured, then I guess it's possible to taste it via the ET's...
But if they are intact, then this should not occur.

It's normal. I'm not a doctor haha, but I know somehow your ears, nose, and mouth are all connected somehow. It does taste gross. Try drinking some brown pop afterwards.

Your ears, nose, and throat are all connected and meet up in your lower throat. it is normal to taste thing like that. that is why when you get an ear infection or any nose problems, your throat starts to hurt of you build fluid build up in you chest.
