Because i only read about 'love with a catch'. "Worship me and i'll love you back". To me that doesn't even sound like love.

Nowhere at all. There is always some string attached to that love : worship me, believe in me, follow me, obey me. Unconditional love is to love someone who does not love you and to do your best to ensure that they are happy even if it makes you unhappy. If means to love them no matter what they do to you. Many people in the world have shown this kind of love. But bible-god sadly has never ONCE shown this love. Instead he wants to throw you in hell for not loving him.

I think the Bible is filled with how God unconditionally loves you. Psalm 13:5 says how David will trust in God's unfailing love. For God so loved the world, is an example. Why would he let us have a peronal relationship with him if he didn't love us forever. He totally does. Psalms, Proverbs, and the new Testament are filled with God's Love, it isn't love with a catch. Oh, and like someone else said Romans 5:35-39 is a totally awesome verse, saying nothin can seperate us from God's love. He loves us a LOT> a whole bunch load. I am sorry you have to read that one extra long answer, I don't agree with it, but he is the one that wasted his time copying and pasting.

Translations are a little rough and, as it happens, at least three different ancient Greek words translate into the English word 'love'. One is the word αγάπη (agape). This word implies 'unconditional love'. It is used a lot in the new testament.

John 13:1 is an example:
It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his LOVE.

1 John 3:1
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us

Also note:
John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command"

That is, anything Christians do for God is not so that we can earn his love, but because we love him. We already have his love. Christians love him "because he first loved us."

Sorry, I would have given a better answer but I'm pressed for time.

Where did you get that quote from, cause it isnt in the Bible. He never says "worhsip me and I'll love you. In fact it is just the opposite. If you love me worhsip me. The Bible is full of examples of God's unconditional love for us. The most famous it John 3:16. God so loved YOU that He gave His son to die for YOU. And that was before you loved Him. It also says that God committed love toward us in that while we were yet sinners (enemies) Christ died for us (YOU). The whole bible is a love letter to you showing you how much He loves you and what He has done and is willing to do for your salvation (spending eternaty with Him). As bad and as evil as you and I are He still loves us. So in turn we aught to love Him and worship Him. Thats really the bible in a nutshell, if it can be placed in a nut shell. Its about His love for man, His love for you. Ask your self the question if someone treated you the way you have treated Him would you still love them. Friend, I could give you hundreds of examples. If you need more email me. God Bless.

im not sure if the bible ever says that

and well im not sure that the bible is all that true or believable

i think that possibly God doesn't love us unconditionally and I doubt most of us really could love anyone unconditionally

from the bible i get the sense that God, is trying to form a nice community in heaven and he can only do that with souls who behave in a certain way

John 3:16 are the words and interpretation of John. Not a promise or covenant of God. Nowhere in the new testament does Jesus or God promise Unconditional Love.

Excuse me but Jesus Christ loved us enough to die for us before we knew Him. That doesn't sound like love me and I will love you back. That sounds like I love you and now I am going to die so your sins will be forgiven if you choose. I don't know where in the Bible it doesn't state that God unconditionally loves us.

I don't have a clue what you would call unconditional love if God's love for us is not it.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Realize Jesus gave up everything to come here and take our sins and die for us.

We worship God because we love Him.

Read Psalm 139 it shows you how intimate God knows each and every one of us.

God attaches conditions to everything. He will not love you unless you abase yourself like a slave and worship him. If you don't, then he sends you to hell. That is why Jesus often called his followers sheep, slaves, and servants. A shepherd does not love the sheep, he raises them for wool and/or meat; they are a commodity, a source of income, an animal whose value is based on their ability to be useful to man. Sheep that are sick or injured are killed because they are not useful. Maybe that's why Jesus never heals the sick--they are sheep and he doesn't care if they die, since they can always be replaced.

Slaves and servants are seldom loved by their masters, but again are a mere commodity. They have value as long as they can do their job. If not--well, then, slaves can be sold, and servants fired. Christians don't make the connection that being someone's slave means there is no love involved--their job is to be obedient, submissive, and unquestioningly devoted to their master, who is not obligated to love them back. He can, however, throw you into hell if he doesn't like you, gets tired of you, or decides that you're not devoted enough.
