If there are any good cooks out here respond please!!
At school we made bread, but next time we do it we are meant to flavour it. We are supposed to do something really inventive, and wild, but I don't know what to do.

put cheese and chives in your dough.

Or if you want to go really wild Tomato puree you finish up with pink bread.

There are lots of ways of flavouring bread, it depends what you like.
Classic flavourings are : caraway seeds (these are best if you are able to make a sourdough bread)
Black Olives and sun dried tomatoes kneaded into your dough make a nice change sprinkling a few crystals of coarse salt over the crust before baking gives an extra crunchy texture
Kibbled onions (should be available from a wholefood or health food shop) added to the flour before mixing in your yeast. or failing that add a packet of dehydrated french onion soup to your flour before adding your yeast and water.
Any mixture of chopped fresh or dried herbs can be good, as can the addition of any number of chopped dried fruits or chopped up nuts.
I have not tried it but the addition of Peanut butter to your dough, spread upon it in layers and folded in could be interesting, and as I have never seen this in a cookery book could be quite inventive.
I quite often top my loaves with either sesame seeds, or blue poppy seeds which are both decorative and give an additional interesting flavour.

Sun dried tomatoes, roasted garlic and Parmesan (the real deal, not from a shaker).

Remember, the bread can taste out-of-this-world, but if it isn't aesthetically pleasing (looks fantastic all by itself), it won't taste as good as it could. Our minds link appearance and taste unconsciously -- so make sure that your bread not only has a good flavor combination, but that it's "pretty," too. Use contrasting colors in ingredients or even swirl two types of bread together....and then add your flavor. Make sure that it looks as nice as it tastes, and then you'll have a winning combination!

Put some of your favorite herbs in a jar and add some extra virgin olive oil. If you leave it for long enough, the oil will take on the flavors of the herbs. Then use this flavored olive oil in your bread.

Sun dried tomatoes or sunflower seeds. Onion, garlic, mixed herbs (dried). You could try putting dried fruit in it or chocolate chunks. I've used lavender flowers in the past - but its an acquired taste. Good luck.

I love bread with a bit of grated cheese and wee bits of bacon in it. Yummmy... (cook the bacon first)

Flat breads work well with chopped sunblush tomatoes and red onion.

You could put some mint into the normal mixture if you're looking for something different or you could just add small pieces of sun ripened tomatoes - that's really yum!

You could try adding garlic infused olive oil, mustard powder and some cheese to your dough. This gives a great taste.

you know the dried seasoning packets like
Good Seasons (Italian, etc) and
Ranch dressing ?

Adding one of those packets would be easy.


But you could add
shredded cheese (chedder bread is wonderful)
or
dried tomatoes,
or olives,
or cinnamon.

chedder cheese and chives would taste great.

minced black olives and a bit of the oil they come in

Herbs de Provence (got look in the spice aisle)

Garlic Powder (go easy on it if you're making yeast bread, tho, as garlic retards yeast action)

Minced jalapenos (no seeds) and cheddar chz
