It has improved my belief in the religion that I have chosen. I have also learned more about their claims, how they conflict with my chosen religion, and how best to refute any criticism on my religion.

During my liberal arts education, heads were always quick to point out the similarities between religions, and the possible sociological explanations for several beliefs and rituals. It never once made me feel like it was being disproved or lessened in merit-- it just made me understand more about human nature, about people.
You can read anything in a book, listen to what anyone says or claims, and you can take a good, hard look in yourself and around you, put it all together and still come up with something wonderful.
Who knows, yo-- but I still like thinking and learning about it.

Confucianism One word which sums up the theory of all reliable habit ... loving kindness. do not do to others what you do not choose executed to your self. Hinduism that is the sum of duty: do not do to others what may reason discomfort if executed to you. Islam not one among you quite believes till you wish for others what you wish for your self. Jainism One ought to take care of all creatures in the international as one may opt to be dealt with. Judaism what's hateful to you, do not do on your neighbour. that is the completed Torah; all some thing else is remark. community Spirituality we are as a lot alive as we save the earth alive. Sikhism i'm a stranger to no one; and no one is a stranger to me. certainly, i'm a buddy to all. Taoism Regard your neighbour's benefit as your own benefit, and your neighbour's loss as your own loss. Unitarianism We verify and promote understand for the interdependent information superhighway of all existence of which we are an element. I made me realize the perfidy of the church, a look at the business of organized religion made me realize how millions had been duped. See crusades, inquisition... Lead me to eclectic Paganism and polytheism and a life long study of the occult.

After seeing the beheadings in the name of allah, and learning of the torture of people in spain by the catholic church. and the way Jews treat non-jews so nastily,
I have come to learn to STAY AWAY FROM RELIGIONS. ALL OF THEM!!!
because if their god allows them to do this, then there IS NO GOD. See? that's PROOF !!

It helps educate me about how people think. Jesus said that we are to become fishers of men. In order to know what kind of person we are to fish for we have to get to know them a little. So by studying another persons beliefs... we learn how to attract the fishies for the catch... to lead people to Christ.

It helped me to ditch faith, although learning about the history of religion probably sealed the coffin.

That none are truely more correct than the other. All religions are based on faith which is the acceptance of something that cannot be proven.

It helped (along with other things) make me an atheist. When I saw the whole timeline of beliefs and gods and all that, I saw the silliness of taking one specific part of the timeline and saying "THIS is the real one!"
