i'm the opposite....i've been steering clear of meat lately. the thought of a hamburger makes me cringe.
cravings are just your body's way of getting something it is lacking.
just be sure you are eating a balanced diet and everything will be fine.

cravings are normal,

I am a nutritionist, from what you said I am going to guess it is the salt you crave not the protein, the typical average diet has more that adequate amounts to support a pregnancy (about 6 ounces of beef a day covers all your protein needs).

but because your blood volume increases during pregnancy you require more salt to regulate it, hence you crave foods that have a high sodium content like peanut butter and wings...

People crave all sorts of things, its not necessarily a deficiency of a particular vitamin... I posted something on here a while ago to explain my weird craving for wanting to sniff diesel fumes and someone else replied that her friend ate through several bathroom sponges!!!!

When I was pregnant with my son I craved cucumber, I muched through about 10 a day... this time, I'm craving smells only... so very strange... but expecting a girl this time.

Everyone's cravings are different, just go with the flow and don't deny yourself, what better excuse to eat 20 doughnuts when you're pregnant!

I am not sure why you are craving protein in particular, could be that it is something that your system feels it is lacking. I know all kinds of cravings during pregnancy are very normal. If you are at all concerned about it, check with your doctor on your next visit.

Usually the body does crave things that it needs for one reason or another.

I am a very anaemic person in general and with my first two pregnancies needed iron supplements, last year when pregnant i craved celery which is very high in iron and i did not need supplements during that pregnancy at all. Its usually your bodies way of making you eat what it needs, for whatever reason.

Good luck with the pregnancy.
