Mom and Dad...
"stop complaining about me to everyone you see !!"
It's called gossip and it's a very un-attractive characteristic!!

Well first off, you must be doing something wrong IF they are complaining. And they most likely are not complaining as you understand them. They are most likely looking for advice on how to handle the situation overall. Like you keep smoking and they sound like they are complaining but they are actually looking for ideas on how to address it. I use this only as an example. BUT the way or one way to handle this is to sit down with them BOTH and ask them. And don't come across in a negative way or it will set the grounds so to speak./ Come across as it concerns you and ask why they are doing this. You will come across much more mature than what they think you are and may very well be receptive towards you approaching them as you have. Give it a try and good luck.

That's a trick I don't think many people have accomplished. It's a parent's job to talk about their kids and if you aren't pleasing to them, then they are going to complain. The best thing you can do is to stop giving them things to complain about. Or you could tell them that it's really NOT cool that they complain about you so much. But the biggest thing you could do is to sit down and have a candid conversation with them about the situation. They may be shocked at the maturity you are showing.

Let them know that it hurts your self esteem when they only point out the bad instead of praising the good that you do. Tell them it makes you feel like they don't want you around when all they do is complain about you. And if they would like you to change something, then they should talk to you about it, not everyone else. Also, if you're behaving that badly, then maybe you should think about how you may be affecting them.

Try talking to your parents. Maybe they don't realize what they are doing. If that doesn't work you should try to think about what they are complaining about, could it be a valid issue?
Or you could just let "slip" some family secrets here and there that could at least bring you some amusement.

Show them a lot of respect and love first. Tell them gently that every individual has his own character and GOD loves everybody as he is. Tell them that no good will come from others by knowing about him.
That they are trespassing your individuality and confidence which make a lot of damage to your self esteem
Surely as your loving parents they do not want to see their son suffer.

Yeah, my parents do the same thing. It's gotten to the point where I snap at them not to yell at me for everything, especially if it's not my fault. Probably not the best way to handle it, but they might shut up for a couple of days.

Just sit them down and talk like an adult,
Tell them that it is embarrassing to you and that you don't appreciate it.
If that doesn't work well, don't give them anything to complain about

Have you tried calmly and maturely discussing it with your parents and letting them know how much it upsets you? The best way to let someone know that they're upsetting you is to let them know flat out that they're doing it. If it continues, well that's another question that I'll answerr another time.

e.g. My mum will say in front of her 'girlfriends': "My daughter fails so badly. I don't know what to do with her."
I will smile and face my mum: " Isn't that a pity you also fail badly and disappoint grandma? So this must be genes. Mum."
