I have always been told this if you play better than 90 for 18 you are better than 90% of all the people who play golf at least once in there life. However with that 10% who are addicted to the game it requires you to drop your score to 80 before you can really call yourself a top flight golfer. Note I am still around an 84 myself but I play from the mens not the ladies eventhough I can.

I read some time ago, that an average golfer should consider looking at every hole as a par 5, regardless of what the card says. By this standard, a round of 90 would be considered a successful round of golf.

I've found that when I follow this mind set, it has helped me lower my score. I don't get up-tight when I blow a par 3 and when I birdie a par 4 or a par 5 it has great upside.

I'm a low 90s hitter so I wouldn't consider myself a "good" golfer, but this standardized par 5 scoring system seems to be a good gage.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

Par for 9 holes is 36. If you shoot around a 45 you're doing good. Par for 18 holes is 72 so about a 90 is good.

The average golfer cant break 100 so that means the average 9 hole score for amateur is over 50.

the average males score for 18 holes is around 100 so if you shoot in the low 90's you would be better than average. score is not as important as having fun and getting a little workout...ENJOY!!!

Having played with many golfers of many different levels, I'd say playing in the eighties is a little better than average.
