I recommend that you take a trip to Rottnest Island and rent a bike and tour the island. Next take a road trip North of Perth to Pinnacles and check out the natural rock formations. If you have lots of time I suggest taking another long road trip South to Albany to see Natural Bridge, The Gap and The Blowhole. Take the coast drive back to Perth and see the Tree Top Walk near Walpole and Nornalup. The Gloucester Tree in Pemberton. Wine tasting in Margrate River. Check out some or all of the caves in the area if you have time. I hope you have plenty of time to see it all. I wish I had more then a week when I was there, but I make the most of my time. Have fun!

Busselton WA is about 2 hours or so from Perth. It is a great central location to stay. It is a fabulous tourist destination with the Busselton jetty a well known location and the underwater aquarium at the end of the jetty a great place for kids and adults alike.

From Busselton you are really close to a place called Cowaramup which has an excellent candy store called the Candy Cow. Yummy.

It is also not far to Margaret River for wine tasting. There are 2 cheese factories on the way to Margaret River and a Chocolate Factory and a fudge factory.

You can do all this, or simply chill out.

All in all an easy location to get to and a good base to explore the rest of the southwest.

Hope this helps

First, I'd wait a week before you go, because right now the roads are aweful everywhere! However, once you make a commitement I have two suggestions: 1. Take the ferry from Mukilteo to Clinton on Whidbey Island and drive up whidbey island. Be sure to take detour to down town Langley, which has some wonderful antique & coffee shops and also check out the view in Coupeville. Then head to Deception Pass and you can walk on the beach or walk around the bridge. Follow that road around and it will loop you back to Mount Vernon. If you go in April, you'll even catch the Tulip Festival which is between LaConner & Mount Vernon. It's beautiful and many of the fields are free. This is a GREAT day trip! 2. Head to Ocean Shores. Ocean Shores is awesome! Take I-5 south to Olympia and then take the highway west through Elma, Hoquium/Aberdeen, and follow it right out to "Ocean Beaches". It's usually pretty windy in Ocean Shores, but it isn't at ALL commercial. It's a good 3+ hour drive to Ocean Shores, so be sure to go for the weekend. There are camping areas and lots of NON-chain hotels out there. If you're lucky you'll find a privately owned condo to rent for the weekend that's right on the water. It's beautful with MILES of beaches. There's kite rentals and horse rentals, too. Enjoy!

i like road trips. So.... take the Albany Highway from Perth down to Albany and then drive slowly back north through Walpole, Denmark, Pemberton, across to Margaret River and then you are about three hours away from Perth.

Lots to see, variety in scenery (forest, coastline, wineries surf small country towns, antiques etc.) Ilove it!
