http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/diyrobes/ has links to several pages with instructions for making different kinds of robes. One of the simplest is at http://www.geocities.com/chrissy_lynn_2000/robe.html
Another (not linked elsewhere, I think) is at http://walkinthelight.co.uk/robes.htm

If you like more complex patterns, http://www.members.tripod.com/~Marewindrider/garments.htm has some advice on commercial patterns that can be made or adapted into ritual robes. Often, you can use halloween "witch" or "angel" costume patterns, and some "medieval princess" type patterns are usable.

A very common pattern used that you will be able to find is the Wizard/ Cloak pattern for Butterick #4050! The "view" that is most often used (and which *I* use) is the lower right-hand quadrant of the front of the pattern when you buy it: a velvety cloak with long glorious bell-sleeves! Many Witches, myself included, modify this pattern slightly by omitting the hood and sewing it closed down the front. We also choose a VERY heavy weight black polyester and a contrast lining just for the sleeves, usually a red satin. But, the color is entirely up to you. I have also sewn an over-cloak to wear over my ritual robes that are "true" to the pattern to match the contrast lining. If your sewing machine is capable you might want to enhance your ritual robes with digital embroidery. I highly recommend the line of singer sewing machines that come with a software packet that otherwise would cost you hundreds, if no thousands, of dollars!!! If you do not, than there are many books available that you may learn from in order to add a variety of heirloom sewing techniques to your ritual robes! One that I particularly like is, "Encyclopedia of Sewing Machine Techniques" by Nancy Bednar & JoAnn Pugh-Gannon (the skills are not always very attractive, but they may be modified by our own imaginations and individual skills or artistry); also, anyone new to sewing should read the "Vogue Sewing" book which is not only a very detailed how-to, but it also teaches finishing techniques that will give our ritual robes that finished couture feel, appearance and longevity, which they are worthy of.

Lots of good patterns here. The #104 Egyptian Shirt can be lengthened to make a great robe. That is the one I used.
