I use to struggle with hiccup's regularly. I could do nothing to take them away. Finally I went to dinner with a group of friends. I couldn't stop hiccuping the loud hurtful kind. I was very embarrassed. My friends new girlfriend led me to the restroom. She carried her glass of water with her. After we were in the restroom she told me to tilt my head back a little and hold my arms straight out. Feeling silly I did it as she poured the water into my mouth. It worked and I didn't get the hiccups for many weeks after. If you have someone to help you ... it works.

The best cure for me is a teaspoon of sugar with a little water added to it. It is so shocking to the system that it knocks the hiccups right out!
Good Luck

an old family remedy from Ireland, but it works! Have someone stand behind you, press your ear flaps closed, slowly drink a glass of water(do not stop), keep pressure on your ears for another 30 seconds or so, and then have that person slowly relax the pressure on your ears till they are open again-has never failed me or my family. Good luck

Get a glass of luke warm water place a paper towel over the top and then drink slowly..... the paper towel is used as a filter.
this WILL get rid of hiccups... one glass should do.

1) pour a tall glass of water
2) hold your breath
3) pinch your nose (closed)
4) take 10 - 20 swallows of the water slowly (while holding your breath with your nose pinched closed)
5) when you can't stand it anymore, take a deep breath and relax

heres what i do. everyone says hold ur breath, or drink water, or hop on one foot, or spin, or count to ten, or have some one scare me. i have water in my mouth while holding my breath, counting to ten and spinning with my eyes shut, while expection someone to throw something at me which i know will hurt, so im scared. doing them all at one has mostly been pretty affective for me.

drink something from the opposite side of the glass, by bending forward until you can drink upside down. or, try taking 10 quick sips of a carbonated beverage.

an old standard around bars, and my personal choice is this simple and effective method for quickly getting rid of hiccups. a slice of lime splashed with a bit of bitters. you eat it. the whole thing, one bite. probably make you cringe, but hiccups go away. try it.
