If life begins at conception and the birth control pill works by delaying ovulation AND by not allowing a fertilized egg to implant itself in the uterus and delvelop, don't users of the pill run the risk of having an abortion every single month?

Maybe I'm not asking the right question. How can a woman who is against abortion be on the birth control pill when, essentially, it can cause an abortion each month?
The pill does not STOP ovulation, it just controls when it happens. When the "fake" pills are taken, a woman produces an egg that can be fertilized. The pill prevents the fertilized egg from developing. By anti-abortion group definition .... an abortion.

ANOTHER UPDATE:
With responses like this:
"the pill prevents conception by not releasing an egg... "
"I am preventing conception, not destroying life....I do not release an egg every month to be fertilized. "
"During ovulation an egg is released from the ovaries, without ovulation there is no egg to be fertilized and pregnancy cannot occur"
"If I do not release an egg than no fertilization can occur, therefore, no life has been started"
I'm amazed at how many women don't know how the pill works.
Tell me, how many women on the pill, never have another period?
None. You have a period because you take the "fake" pills and you ovulate. You release an egg. This egg can become fertilized. To avoid having a baby, the pill thckens the membrane of the uterus so the fertilized egg can implant itself.

To those women out there that are on the pill and have completly STOPPED having periods ...... go see a doctor. Something is wrong. To all others that continue to have periods once a month while on the pill .... carry on. Everything is just fine. You ARE ovulating as you should (hence your monthly period).

Life begins when the egg is fertilized. If I do not release an egg than no fertilization can occur, therefore, no life has been started. Now, I do not believe in using the morning after pill because there was joining of sperm and egg, and a fetus could have been created. This means that you purposely terminated the young life before it even had a chance to breathe for the first time, but that would be wrong, wouldn't it ?! Maybe people should think more before they decide to procreate. It just tends to lead to more stupidity throughout the world….. I do not have a period anymore. That is the point of the pill that I am taking. Maybe YOU need to ask a doctor how this is possible since you don't seem to understand. My doctor is the one who recommended this pill for me since I have had trouble w/ monthly pills.

How does birth control work?
"Birth control pills, or oral contraceptives, contain hormones that suppress ovulation. During ovulation an egg is released from the ovaries, without ovulation there is no egg to be fertilized and pregnancy cannot occur."
What is "conception?"
"1 a (1) : the process of becoming pregnant involving fertilization or implantation or both"
Conception doesn't occur when a woman is on birth control, so there is no contradiction.

I think you're the one that doesn't understand how the pill works. The pill tricks the body into thinking that it is already pregnant and therefore an egg is not released and there is no ovulation. I'm on the pill and I'm against abortion.

i am going to seize Hell from another professional-lifers for this, yet I even haven't any issue with the pill and the IUD. Implantation is possibly a extra acceptable attempt for the start of existence than the instant of theory. that is actual extra acceptable in my ideas to stay away from a being pregnant in the first position than to abort it later. that is frequently the Catholic faction of the pro-existence move that products to birth control maximum Protestants i comprehend do not seem to seem at it this kind. even as i changed into married, we used the pill whem we dadn't choose children and it labored out fairly properly. i'm very pleased with both youngsters we had, yet a 0.33 may have placed a monetary and a non secular burden ob an already crumbling marriage. Abstinence is one hundred% sensible even as practiced, yet i'm not laboring less than the phantasm that that is practiced a lot in at present's society. (Or the day previous's society for that count number number.) by using all ability, practice modern-day birth control. that is actual extra acceptable than abortion. God bless.

That is why after my first child was born birth control wasn't a plan of ours. We let God time our children and we have 3 kids and 2 year spacing.
