Not safe to have it done at the same time, definately a NO. I've been doing hair over 20 years,I permed mine and colored it the same day,and spent the next 6 months with nasty broke off hair. Get the relaxer/perm done, and ask the salon how long they recommend you wait. It used to be,you ihad to chose color or perm, but now they've got better products. Don't try this at home!! You'll be sorry

African Pride has a good home highlighting kit...but you MUST wait two weeks after a relaxer to use it.

As for color...if your hair is brown, go for a light brown-blonde highlights. If your hair is black, a red tone highlight will look best.

If you are itching for a change the day you get a relaxer you can get a rinse (semi-permanent color) the same day you perm. It's also good because the color will eventually wash out (which is great if you don't love the results). However, a con is that if you swim, workout and/or sweat a lot the color will drip whenever the hair is wet.

I'm not a "sista" but I think a good highlight color for African American hair is a caramel or honey blonde color. Not too light so it's subtle and natural looking. I don't think it's safe to get highlights immediately after a perm because all of the chemicals would dry out your hair. Talk to your hair stylist and she/he can tell you which would be safer and what you should do first.

although you do, NO BLONDE. Your too darkish to do blonde and it may seem sorta trashy (no offense by any ability). yet i'm wondering black highlights and then a pink streak on the fewer than element of your hair. Its ordinary to conceal for school and it would seem hawt along with your hair. yet otherwise I even ought to assert do not dye your hair. Ive dyed my hair because that i changed into 3 years previous. Now Im fourteen and my hair isn't thoroughly fried - yet I wish that i have not in any respect dyed my hair. organic shades are way extra acceptable, espicially once you've a organic tint in it.

Its not a good idea to do it together unless you have very healthy hair. I have done it before with out any complications however, it is recommended that you wait about a week and make sure that after your hair is relaxed you don't have chemical burns. If you do then wait until they heal because your hair will shed. Hope this helps

your hair will look lovely for a while but then you will notice that it has been horribly damaged. Perming and highlights really damage your hair. Do one thing let it heal then do the other!

get reddish/brown/and a little bit of blonde if you have dark hair like your avatar. but wait till your perm is done setting in. maybe a month to be safe.

ask your stylist bc it depends on what hair type you have, thin, thick, what chemicals they used to perm it, etc. TELL YOUR STYLIST BEFORE U GET IT DONE!
