Some people do and some don't. If the date is a complete flop, then no. If the date went well, then some people hug and exchange a small kiss.
It also may depend on the culture of the person you are dating. If you are of the same culture, then there shouldn't be a problem. If in doubt, don't or ask the person. First impressions are lasting impressions.

Sometimes I will kiss them on the cheek and thank them for the date. Maybe on date 2 or 3 I might kiss them on the lips.

yes, but not passionately. It's important to kiss and see if you have sparks and feelings or why waste your time. Don't go overboard though because deep kisses lead to "other" things and that you do not want to do on the first date.
