Hinduism is the major religion of India, practiced by more than 80% of the population. In contrast to other religions, it has no founder. Considered the oldest religion in the world, it dates back, perhaps, to prehistoric times.

No single creed or doctrine binds Hindus together. Intellectually there is complete freedom of belief, and one can be monotheist, polytheist, or atheist. Hinduism is a syncretic religion, welcoming and incorporating a variety of outside influences.

Islam was founded in the 7th century in Arabia. The person above me thinks Adam was Islam? Kind of impossible since Islam wasn't establish until the 7th centry (long after Adam's time).

According to Orthodox Judaism and most religious Jews, the Biblical patriarch Abraham was the first Hebrew. Abraham came long before the 7th century so Judaism is older than Islam.

The Catholic Church traces its origins to Jesus and the Twelve Apostles, in particular Peter, the leader of the Apostles, who is regarded as the first Pope. So Catholicism is also older than Islam since Islam was not established until the 7th century.

Hinduism is a religion that orginated from the Indian subcontinent. It is claimed to be the oldest existent religion in the world but has no exact date of establishment so no one really knows. The roots of Hinduism date from around 3000–1000 BCE. The earliest evidence for elements of the Hindu faith dates back as far as 3000 BCE, though the beliefs and practices of pre-classical era (2000-1000 BCE) are more accurately termed, "Vedism." Fully-formed Hinduism did not emerge until these Vedic traditions interacted with the shramanical movements of Buddhism and Jainism just as Judaism did not emerge in a defined form until the split with Christianity.

In fact, the oldest of the four main religions is Hinduism. Hinduism has the oldest recorded roots in Dravidianism. Dravidianism was estimated to have been practised around 6000 to 3000BCE and as such predates Sumerian, Egyptian and Babylonian cultures.

Hinduism is generally considered to be the oldest religion still being practiced today. This ancient religion was born when the Aryan peoples migrated to Northern India and first put their religious tradition into writing. The texts they created are the Vedas, which were written around 1,500 B.C.E. (before common era) and have greatly influenced Indian culture ever since.
Several other religions are almost as old as Hinduism. Judaism traces its roots back to the patriarch Abraham, who lived around 1,800 B.C.E. While the Jewish people are descended from Abraham, it was Moses who first recorded the Torah, the Jewish holy text, in 1,400 B.C.E. Most sources consider the date of the Torah as the beginning of Judaism.

Zoroastrianism is sometimes called the world's oldest prophetic religion. It's certainly one of the earliest religions founded by one person. Scholars are not certain when the founding prophet Zarathustra actually lived. Some believe Zarathustra lived in the 6th century B.C.E., while others trace his writings to the 14th or 13th centuries B.C.E.

The swastika is one of the oldest known religious symbols.

But the first religion was probably invented by the guy who learned how to make fire. We don't have a record of the rituals he required people to perform. But, I'll bet they involved cute girls doing things that made him feel good. And ugly people giving him gifts.

Judaism is not the oldest known religion. Judaism wasn't invented until somewhere between 1,000 & 500 BCE.

i read this once:
in the begining of human life .when people lived in groups for the first time. they used to worship the totems. and each group believed that their totem is which save them and helps them . the totem was may be an animal or plant or what ever . and each person has to learn and act as the totem do such to learn cunning from the fox.....i guess it was the first relegion.
and notice that we can say that at that time there was no society in a clear meaning just groups live by attacking other groups and by hunting animals ..
good luck
