Why doesn't you dog have a shcnauzer cut already? Schnauzers are supposed to have short hair on their backs that tapers to longer hair on their legs, chest and belly. Their heads and ears should be shaved, leaving their faces with longer eyebrows and beards. This is what a schnauzer should look like: http://www.akc.org/breeds/miniature_schnauzer/photos.cfm
You can ask your groomer to trim the legs, beard and eyebrows shorter than what is the norm, which is what I do.
You should really consult a good groomer in your area about what the best cut would be for your dog. Stay away from the big box pet store groomers (petsmart, petco) as they usually uses students or inexpierenced groomers.
Like someone else said, schnauzers are very proud dogs. My dog prances around when he knows he's being watched and loves being the best dog in his agility class. He's a big show-off.

Yes schnauzer need to be groomed durring the hot season really they should always be groomed because most schnauzer hair will start to matt up once it get long, and it is true they are proud of the way they look i always tell people drake has a double personilyt when he is not groomed he has a shy personality but grooming time and he is all handsome he becomes macho drake with an atitude and you don't tell him he is cute that is for girls you half to say handsome.
anyway it is good for you dog and your self make him proud and you proud

No. Hair is a natural insulator and not only keeps animals warm but keeps them cool in warm weather too. I worked with a groomer a long time ago and we never recommended that anyone shave their dog to keep them cool. Only if there is a skin problem or matting in the fur should a dog be shaved.

Be careful because some breeds of dogs actually use their fur to keep cool. The thicker the fur the less heat that gets to thier skin. I would consult a vetranarian before shaving the dog, you may just make the animal hotter by giving it shorter fur.

Absolutely!!! You can also try to avoid your dog to "see" too easy to the street. What do I mean? Schanuz bark A LOT!!! they get too excited and this can make them have what is called "a heat stroke". It's not as delicate like in short nose dogs that can even stop breathing but you have to consider this always, especially when there are noisy or messy kids in the neighborhood.

You should but you should also watch out.
I know this may sound kind of stupid but my cousin has a schnauzer and they're really proud of their looks. We shaved her once and she was ashamed of herself. She kept hiding under tables and not letting anyone see her. We took her to the vet and he said that she was ashamed of how she looked.
You might want to get a professional opinion.

Yes, but you should take her to a groomer just to be sure it doesn't end up looking goofy.

yes, and you should if you are in a hot area.
But don't shave so much that she can get sunburned.
Really - that isn't a joke.
