My apologies and no offense if you live in one of these "backward" states.

Your rhetoric and labels are interesting.

States where most people's values differ from your own are labelled "backward."

States where your values are more represented are labelled "progressive."

"Progressive" is nothing but a word hijacked by leftists to describe their political and social agenda because the root of the word is "progress" -- and how can anybody be against progress, right?

It's a very clever word play, but if the left's idea of "progress" is letting two men marry each other, or giving drug addicts free reign over public parks (like they do in San Francisco), then I guess we just have different ideas of what true progress is.

It also seems as if you're engaging in stereotypes about people who live in places like Mississippi and North Dakota, and seemingly looking down your nose at them.

Is such prejudiced and stereotypical thinking your idea of "progress"?

Most Religions are based on a Creed. Tenets are inherently "static."

Static beliefs are doomed to extinction. However, before the end arrives, certain precursors must occur: stagnancy, atrophy and Decay.
In the interim, people, States and Countries continue to regress to a previous, usually worse or less developed state.

I love how people who have a bone to pick with religion insult us. Who says that these states are "progressive"?

I'm from New York, and I have seen what happens to cities in this state that have turned from religion.

You're insinuating there's a connection? But you also must weigh other factors like natural resources, population size, industry, etc.

BTW, I am a non-religious person from California, but I know there's just more to it than this.

What is a backward state? I think southern people tend to be more religious, because of their up-bringing. Southern people rock..

You need to read up on Sodom and Gomorrah. Sin is committed more frequently in areas where people don't have time for God.

Only imbeciles use wikipedia as a source.

Then to quote this source as fact is foolish.

Please clarify 'backward'. Otherwise there's no basis for what you are trying to say.

Also there is a difference between claiming 'religion' and being 'spiritual'.

What YOU call "backward", other folks call "backbone"

What YOU call "progressive", other folks describe as liberal hotspots of decay.
