Turn to mirror around to face the wall and go about your business. At 16, if you eat right, exercise daily, are not pregnant, doing drugs or drinking, you deserve an ice cream sundae. Your weight doesn't get any easier to manage as you age, as I am finding out, but the focus should be on your health and well being, not on your size. I'm 5'11" and weight considerably more than you do and still look okay. But I feel healthy and strong. Yoga has helped me feel more limber and "lighter" on my feet, maybe there is a class you can look into. Good Luck.

The fact that u used to weigh more shows you that you are motivated and able to improve. Having a little extra weight is not as bad as people make it seem to be. You need to stop reading US magazine because most people on TV ARE anorexic to a point. You have to believe in yourself. If you dont who will? If you eat right and you exercise than you are a good person for that alone. There isnt much else you can do other than try to change the way you feel.

Stop worrying Dear. 5'8" and 155 lbs is not bad. Do not try to get skinny.
Just keep eating healthy, making sure to get enough vitamins and minerals. Drink plenty of plain water (no flavoring).
Get some daily excercise, even if just a walk in the neighborhood.
You are still young and growing.
Please be confident in your appearance.
You're beautiful.

Peace

At 16 you are still growing. You are doing the right things... exercising and eating healthy. Allow yourself to have a "fun" snack every once in a while but if you do get hungry, try to snack on baby carrots or pretzels. Smaller portions are beneficial and make sure you eat breakfast. If you don't, you are more likely to overeat during the day. Good luck to you.

You learn to love yourself for who you are. Start loving those curves and developing a better self image. You have the right to love yourself and move freely and feel beautiful, but you can't depend on others to make you feel that way. Quit wishing you were more like someone else and get out and do the things you always wanted to do. Being healthy is infinitely more important than being thin.

Believe it or not, "thin" isn't as "in" as you think it is!! Guys want girls to have curves...they Love big boobs and a healthy booty - not thin-as-a-rail or flat as a board! Girls at your age are ridiculously obsessed about their bodies and are viciously competitive, always trying to "one-up" eachother in the process of "who's the fairest in the land".. ..that oftentime, feelings are hurt! This happens, I believe, because as girls, you do not "know" yourselves completely yet because you haven't finished "evolving" into a woman...you're going through the process, but havent reached the end design yet, so your self-esteem and self-confidence hasn't arrived in full, living color, yet.
But when you are a woman, you carry yourself as a woman because you KNOW yourself backwards and forwards, inside and outside and that in turn is what gives you your confidence and self-assuredness so that you don't feel you have to compete or "measure" yourself with other girls. You ARE NOT FAT!! Geez, man...you ARE 5'8"!! That's a tall frame and taller frames have more weight ...APPORTIONATELY DISTRIBUTED!! THE best thing you can do for yourself, girl, is to change how you lthink about the whole weight issue! EMBRACE WHO you are...NO MATTER what your size! Because when it comes down to what's REALLY important in life, it's what's on the INSIDE that COUNTS...and not "FACE" value!

Don't look at your weight, look at your BMI (Body Mass Idex). BMI for a person who is 5'8" and 155 lbs. is 23.6.

Here are the categories for BMI:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

As you can plainly see, you are VERY much within the normal weight range for your height. You would have to put on another ten pounds to be considered SLIGHTLY overweight.

Smile and be happy with yourself, sweetie!!!
