I'm impressed. I think the reason it hasn't been used yet is because if it happens to fall into enemy hands on the battlefield, you're in big doodoo.

Yes, I've heard about it. It is an interesting idea, true, but not something going to win wars on it's own.
It does have several drawbacks - the gun't balance is very poor, the "magazines" are awkward, and you can't reload them with spare bullets.
The only "metal storm" technology weapon that is being tested by an army is actually a 40mm grenade launcher integrated into an AUG assault rifle, and tested (or maybe even being introduced into, I'm not following it closely enough) by the Australian army. It has the advantage of holding 3 grenades, and allowing to fire them in quick succession (compared to typical 40mm GL's, like M203, that have to be reloaded after each shot and have no magazine).

metal storm has been around quite a while but to date has not been adopted by anyone for anything. lots of ideas and claims but nothing more. its an impressive system but so far its just one more idea that has not wprked well enough to be used
