He should be treated the same as you would any other kitten. Just let the mother take care of him. She knows what to do. The mother will wean him when she thinks it is time. And she will litter train him. And then get them both altered.

I've had cats that just had 1 kitten lots of times. My puppy was also an only pup. So it is fairyly common, just not the usual. Kittens can start dipping their mouths in the milk or water dish around 3 weeks but they probably won't drink much now. At 4 weeks they will be more interested. By 5 weeks they should be eating either soft cat food or dry kitten food. It is best not to take them from Mommy until 8 weeks of age but many people give them away as early as 5 weeks. Kittens will naturally learn to use the litter on their own. They just have to know where it is, so after meals and after eating place your kitten in the litter box, but 3 weeks is still early for this.

I don't think it happens all the time but I don't think you need to worry about it though.I wouldn't start to wean him yet because you said he is only 3 weeks old so he probably isn't old enough yet.I don't know if you are going to have problems getting him litter trained,I don't know what to tell you about that.I think that he is just going to be a big cat when he turns into an adult.

Good for her! Only one infant at a time to look after, even if he is a whopper. Let mama do her job: she'll see that he's weaned when it's time, and she doesn't have to be able to pick him up to lead him to the litter box for toilet education. Just sit back, watch, and enjoy the process. And as soon as baby is old enough, please, get both cats fixed.

Please get them both neutered as soon as possible.
