From what I understand (and my understanding is very limited), then sex doesn't necessarily have to be in the bounds of marriage, but there should be a solid connection with the other person on some level. The nice thing about gnosticism is there is no "true" way to do something. You have to define your own level of truth.

Many gnostics would abstain from sex completely, since they think the material world is evil.

We're not immoral perverts. When will people realize you can't lump any group of people together and stick a label on them? Open your mind and educate yourself.
