I don't know about pact--but they did nothing to renounce their bad behavior. This could of helped. They knew it and refused to at least call it out. This was wrong. If they had renounced their sin and maybe disfellowship those in the congregation it might have made an impact. People can be let back in the congregation upon repentances or turning back from wrong. The Vatican refused to call the horrors out-it wouldn't have been a taking of sides-it would have been calling out a wrong which is what religion should be doing.
I have heard there was some pay off to this-but who knows. Many leaders turned their head even when confronted with simple questions.
The only action I would expected them to do-would have been to not support them in any way by word or deed. This I did not see as they did support them in word at times. And they did promote them as friends of the church.

I'd like to see the Vatican fold up its' pointy hat, and kind of go away, at least for a while. The catholics are still telling people to have 6 kids in a world where it's obvious that if everyone does that, we'll all be begging in the streets. Too bad they never got any of that 'enlightenment' they keep trying to sell to others...

I even have not heard that tale. I even have heard various cases the place his paintings became criticized by ability of an paintings instructor, and Hitler became his back then and there on an paintings profession. What a diverse international we'd have had if in user-friendly terms he had grow to be an artist!

the Vatican hid peole from Hitler during WWII. Look it up on the internet. You'll find a lot of stuff about some Irish dude who hid people. they did make a deal not to bomb the Vatican, so kind of.

I don't think there was ever an official pact, but a lot of unwritten "understanding" going on.
