I think that North Korea is setting itself up to be attacked with nuclear weapons should they make a first strike. The possible worst-case scenario is that they launch a single missle towards Tokyo, which will prompt the U.S. and maybe China to retaliate. I doubt that the U.S. itself will be directly threatened as Korea has a larger grudge with Japan, which is closer anyway.

If a nuclear war ensues, it will most likely NOT be North Korea who started it.

My reasoning? President Bush is a hasty leader. He seems to care more about media press and instant gratification than he cares about diplomacy and careful thought. Evidential proof lies in the mere weeks it took Bush to send a counter-attack against Iraq. In terms of sending military troops across the world, a few weeks is almost an instantaneous action. Put simply, Bush didn't think carefully about what to do next after 9/11. He didn't even take the time to realize that it wasn't Iraq who sent the suicide bombers - it was an invisible underground organization. The war was never supposed to be with Iraq, yet Bush still found a way (and fast!) to make a war appear almost overnight.

This hasty, non-diplomatic reasoning of Bush's is what puts our country and its citizens at peril with North Korea. For a nuclear war to erupt, all it will take is for Bush to get itchy feet and overreact to North Korea's missile testing.

No sensible country would start a nuclear war, but no sensible country would act as North Korea are doing now. So there must be a risk of nuclear war because of North Korea's actions.

Why is everyone saying that because they launched a test rocket it means that they are getting ready for war, They have over a million troops on the border with S Korea, Nobody said anything when the USA or Russia tests a rocket. Not many people said anything when the French decided to nuke a Atoll in the south Pacific.
The rockets have trouble getting of the ground .... So ...... there's enough footage of USA rockets not even getting of the ground in the early days.

They are essentially for the moment just threats. One of the missiles they launched the other day apparently malfunctioned so frankly right now they are just acting like idiots launching crap. If they suddenly arm one of those things with a nuke and aim it at say the USA...then it may lead to war. It depends on how insane Kim Jong ill has gone in the past few years

I think North Korea is being very belligerent about their missiles. If the U.S. and Japan and other countries that give them aid were to stop, that country would be down the toilet in days.... Kim Jong Il has proven time and again that he's completely psychotic and apparently has no desire to listen to reason. I don't see anyone dropping nukes on N.Korea because we wouldn't want to take the chance of affecting South Korea, but I do think that someone should drop a bomb on their nuclear plant in Pyongyang, and maybe another strategically aimed missile--right up Kim Jong Il's butt....

Probably not.
Kim Jong Il, nutcase that he is, is trying to show off his military might because his country sells weaponry to other unstable countries. So he is trying to showcase his arsenal as much as make a statement to the world. The North Korean economy is so weak that a concerted effort by the other countries in the world could effectively shut down NK in a matter of weeks. He know this.

It' wouldnt happen. We would shoot there nukes down way before they reached anything. Then we would go in and kick their butts. N Korea can't afford a long drawn out war. They don't have the resources nor the food to do so.

Why will we ought to do some thing with it in the first position? we've nuclear guns for years. we are the in ordinary words u . s . a . on earth which used nuclear bomb on civil inhabitants in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. Why N. Korea ought to not have any nuclear guns? they prefer to guard themselves from us.
