I think it is a great idea, for one thing fresh flowers are used and then thrown away mercilessly, the fake ones will atleast decorate some people's home.
Besides, it is always easy to walk the path that everyone else before you have done. This is one way you will make people stop and think that why waste for a couple of hours of pleasure when they can be enjoyed much longer when they are on plants.
It shows your compassion: that plants have life, too.

It depends. I've been to two weddings that used fake flowers. The first one was HORRIBLE. They used cheap looking flowers and it was just tacky. The other one however, they used better quality fake flowers, and you could barely tell they were silk! So I guess it just depends on how you want to do it. If you're looking to save money by using fake flowers, then chances are you'll end up with the tacky flowers. However, if you're looking to have the fake flowers because you'll be outside and you're worried about real ones wilting, or you're allergic, then spend the money on the good ones. But, fresh is still best!

being a wedding photographer i would have to say that fake flowers are very wrong... If your budget is the problem, the florists can make an arrangement that is less expensive and just as beautiful as a huge grouping of roses... if they bulk at the idea go elsewhere. Also it can be very elegant for the bridesmaids to carry a single stemmed flower and there again you can save on cost... I would not use fake flowers... unless like someone mentioned about allergies... Good luck

My husband and I were married almost 30 years ago and we used a mixture of silk and real flowers. My son was just married on the 1st and he too had a mix of real and silk. These days I have seen a lot of silk flowers being used at weddings and they are of such quality that you really can't tell the difference except for the scent. If your worried about what people will think don't be. You are the only one who has to be happy with the flowers. If you're on a tight budget, you might try the silk flowers and scent them with fragrance oils when you are doing you final set up before the ceremony. Lots of luck and congratulations!!

There is nothing wrong with using fake flowers for a wedding. Flowers cost a lot of money. And you have to figure out what your priorities are... If flowers aren't that important, then there is no porblem with using fake flowers. Weddings are all that you make it out to be! Don't let what other people say bother you... Or interfere with what is most important to you. Good luck!

as long as theyre not the main arrangements, and not cheap dollar store super fake looking flowers yeah.
You should have both. The silk flowers would be okay on things like, the pews, the walls, really high traffic areas. Real flowers should be on the alter, the tables at the reception, in the bouquets, and that sort of thing.
Ive seen it done tastefully, and you really cant tell the difference.

I used fake flowers and for my wedding no one even noticed. The nice thing about fake flowers you can save them and they will look they same as your wedding day. Another benfit is that you can get them made up early and they won't be on the last minute list.

In a traditional wedding? I'm not sure what's 'tradtional', but if you mean elegant, then no, fake flowers are not ok. I generally think that fake flowers are tacky, especially if any of the guests can get close enough to see if they are fake. JMHO.

High Quality fake flowers are okay. They also have the bonus of being something that you can keep from the wedding and used to decorate your home.

We used fake flowers at my sister's wedding and that was 25 years ago. They still look great. That's something to consider.
