parents now a days are weak and too self-consumed to give their kids the proper attention they need. thats why young girls are acting the way they do and young guys are allowed to let their hormones do all the thinking! and more importantly parents let their kids watch tv way too much and give them money to fill the void of not having their parents to talk to or hang out with and from that kids are getting their advice from kids.
im 7 months pregnant and i already told my boyfriend that BET and MTV will be blocked in our house until they reach high school. so hopefully our love and teachings will have prepared them for high school and the world. but when they enter high school its time for them to use what theyve learned thru the years but they are now reponsible for their decisions!

Parents do not teach their children to be themselves, even if that is different from what everybody else is doing. This started a few generations ago. There are many adults that cannot think for themselves and just go along with the crowd. They are raising their children with the same indecisive attitude. There are no black and whites. No right and wrongs. Anything is OK so long as parents don't have to take their own time and spend it with their children training them. The lines get all blurred for children when there are no set rules to adhere to.
I think of a box. The rules are the sides of the box that give children the security that they need. Now they will push on the side to see if you care enough to say no. They just need to see if the wall of protection is still there. That is the problem. Too many people don't love their children enough to give them the protection that they need. As a result our children are floundering around pushing on every side they can find trying to get someone, somewhere to care enough to say no. They are going to get your attention one way or the other parents. Either you spend the time they need in a positive way training your children, or they will act out until it cost you your time in a negative manner. They WILL get your time one way or another.

Unfortunatly, thinking someone is a slut just by the way they dress is part of the problem. I'm not saying I condone the behavior or the parents who allow it, but I don't believe that predeternined judgements of a 8 year old child for dressing like Brittney is helping any. I seriously doubt they are slutz, just dressing like what they see as acceptable in society.
We all went through it just in different ways, even our grandmothers...imagine what the catty old women said 60 years ago when the bikini first showed up on the beach!

Would you believe peer pressure? Some parents just can not say "No" if the other parents are saying "yes". On the other hand, wearing such clothing does not mean a young girl is: looking for trouble.

When boys wear tight tight jeans, are they looking for someone to attack them? For chrissakes, control yourself man. Clothing shouldn't be an encouragement for attack. Grow up.

Parents need to be parents. They need to take an active role in their children's' lives. Give them guidelines and boundaries and consequences. Parents need to be consistent and set a good example. Most important is to talk, talk and talk some more!!!!

Popular culture (TV, movies) convinces people that it's the norm, and it's alright....that nothing could or would happen.
Also that it's even your "right" to wear what you please, and behave however you want.
John Donne wrote, "No man is an island" but people want to be islands when it suits them personally.
