You will certainly want to consult a physician for the most helpful answers...

We used to make sure that our son was kept up before bed time and then fed just a little bit before he went to sleep. Of course, he was a big baby and that helps. Little babies have a harder time.

Make him sleep in his own bed. If he is not, you will need to let him cry it out for a couple of nights. It will be hard at first, but will lesson in time each night. No baby ever died of crying. Anyway after this is accomplished. Don't go to him the second he starts crying. See if he can soothe himself back to sleep. After a little while and he doesn't stop, do not pick him up. Rub his stomach in his crib. Don't say anything, that is what he wants. After a couple of nights he will know that he needs to sleep. They can go all night without a feeding once there are about 4 or 5 months old. Every baby is different though. Good Luck.

Here is a suggestion. Try to place the child on a routine. What time does the child take his nap during the day. If he is napping late into the day like the early evening try your best to keep him up. Also if it is because of the fact that he wakes up crying, here is a routine for you-it will take a while but it will get easier-when he wakes up during the night and you know that it is not because of a diaper change-go in and reassure him that you are there. Don't pick him up. Talk gently to him and pat him on his back or rub his tummy. Keep doing this while limiting the amount of time that you spend with him. Cut back each time just a little to the point that you are no longer entering the room where he is sleeping. If he is just waking up and is not crying and doesn't need a diaper change-just leave him in his bed as long as you know that he will not climb out or get into any trouble. Eventually he will get the idea.

I would suggest the same as one of your previous answers...Cereal in the last bottle. Could be that you just have a baby that is more active and will wake up throughout the night. Speaking as a mom with twins, and one of them being a night waker-upper, I would just say, remain patient and this too, shall pass. In your down time, just make sure that you get your rest and eat regularly. If relatives offer to babysit, then take them up on it and don't feel guilty. It is very common for an 8 month old to wake at night and if you are hearing otherwise from other moms, well, I would say that they are probably fibbing. Its the "oh, my son never did that" syndrome.

I need more information, but the first mistake I was making was feeding him when he woke up. Instead I started just rocking him or something and after a few nights he got the hint and started sleeping better.

Teething is also a big one. If he is teething the pain may be waking him up. If he had been sleeping through the night and suddenly isnt try giving him some motrin right at bed time, that may help. Please call your doctor for proper dosing.

Every baby is different. Be patient. He will eventually sleeps through the night when he is ready. Try to play with him and not let him go to bed too early. For his last meal of the day, try adding a little cereal to his milk. With a full stomach, he will probably sleep soundly.

Ah...mine is 8 months as well.....

Mine starting cutting teeth and is also having a tough time sleeping through the night. I found that when he wakes up, I lay him between dad and I. He falls right back to sleep.

I have also made sure I feed him something heavy before bed time. I give him cereal and fruit. That seems to help every other night or so.

Hey, it's something..................Don't worry, it's temporary. Your baby is teething.

At 8 months, he probably will not sleep through the night, since he still needs to eat every 4 hours or so.
