They do so because of their ignorance. Ignorant people often know that others are smarter but they don't like to look bad when someones "opinion" is more likely the truth. Everyone should always at least take someone Else's opinion into consideration other wise what is the point of asking a question in the 1st place.

No this site is about asking a question and getting an answer or vice versa. You and a lot of other haven't been able to grasp that. It's not about spreading your ignorant homophobic propaganda. You haven't come across with even one useful answer as far as I can see. You only spread hate.

And don't call me shurley.

You are as entitled to your opinions as anyone else, and if you want to answer questions based on your opinions and knowledge, then that is your right - and people who disagree with that right shouldn't ask questions.
However, I think (and I am aware that others may disagree with me) that some of your own questions have been statements of opinion, not true questions. And whilst I personally wouldn't answer one with an attack on you (I just ignore such faux-questions), I can see why they might irritate other people - especially as the opinions you state could be taken as demeaning certain groups.

I know what you mean, but what happens is people go automatically into "judgement" mode instead of answering the actual question asked. I've said on many occasions that this is Yahoo! "Answers," not yahoo unsolicited advice or one-sided judgements. Many people answer to be a smart ***, not to give the person a useful resource. For example, one might ask, should I buy red shoes or blue shoes? The answers would be:
1. Red is the devil's color
2. I LOVE Elvis!
3. The blood of Jesus keeps you from going to hell.
4. No one cares about your stupid feet.
5. My ex-girlfriend stole my red shoes.
6. Stupid question!
...see what I mean... no help... just talking out the side of our necks. Good question.

Because they are ignorant. I disagree with your opinion on gay people and I have to say that the idea that you can 'treat' gay people with testosterone is completely misinformed, but I agree that you should be able to state any opinion on Yahoo answers, provided you do not use it as a forum to abuse and insult people.

As for Ozal040's rant about you, I would refer readers to his very constructive and useful answer to a perfectly inoffensive question from Black-eyed-peas-fan.

Some people prefer venting bile to honestly exchanging opinions or answering questions.

People shouldn't tell you to keep your opinions to yourself. But this site is for asking a question and receiving useful information, not just stating opinions.

that is called argumentum ad hominem, or attack on the person and not his ideas or arguments. this is the primary weapon of the maleducated and less informed during debates and forums like this. but sometimes even educated people use this rhetorical device to bamboozle their opponents. if you encounter an ad hominem dont mind it. focus on your argument or idea. if they cannot falsify your argument, opinion or idea, that only means there's more reason to believe that you're more correct than them. have a nice day

Some people can't handle the fact that we all have different opinions! They need to embrace the saying that "Variety is the spice of life!"
