I think anyone can perceive any person as "holier than thou" in any aspect of life, not limited to fundamentalist - and if they bother you, then you have rights to state as such, but before condemning, do they live as holier as they speak? This you cannot know from just Q&A - so, your judgement may be harsh and premature. Now, if it is someone you know and their communication and their lifestyle do not align, bring it to their attention - what have you got to lose - a "holier than thou" overzealous fundamentalist Christian friend that drives your crazy? Honestly, think about it!

I wonder what you define "overzealous" to be? Christians who practice their faith?
As a Christian, I think the Bible beaters and the Pamphlet Nazis give Christianity a bad name. I was accosted on a NYC subway by one who tried to engage me in conversation. When I said I was a Christian already, that wasn't good enough for him. He was simply looking for someone to preach to. Sadly, there are people like that out there. They take the mandate to "go out and preach the good news to all nations" a little to the extreme. Their heart is in the right place but the way they go about it has done a great deal of harm to Christianity.
I believe the best preaching and teaching about Jesus is done by the example we set with our daily lives. Living a life of peace and Christian love for our fellow human beings does more to spread the word of God than anything else.
As for "holier than thou", if you perceive someone as being this way, it may be that they lack humility which is against Christianity or that you feel guilty for your life. Only you know which is the truth.

If someone is trying to shove their religion down your throat they are wrong. If they are trying to share their zeal for the Lord they need to make sure and do it in a manner that is not offensive.I understand when people are very zealous for the Lord and want to share their salvation and total joy.It still needs to be wanted and accepted by the other oerson being talked to.Of course if someone is talking about the Lord one way and living the other then I do not consider them to be zealous. I would consider them, in my opinon, to be a hypocite. But if someone is truly zealous and are offending people I would suggest that they talk to their minister and learn how to control themselves for the good of all. I Love the Lord and if someone wants to hear about all the good things he has done in my life and for my family I will gladly share, we are supposed to. I do agree that some people have an attitude of 'holier than thou"maybe you should find out why. Do remember Judge not least you be judged.

Overzealous "ANYONE" can drive someone crazy. Why would you just single out Christians? ... And you wonder why we are overzealous!

Not really. I can honestly say that if they do anything, they motivate me to be even more diligent about refuting their lies and spreading the truth.
Atheism, the only logical choice.
