The answer is quite simple. The rationale for the hostile takeover of a nation like Iraq had nothing to do with any potential threat that they posed, because that threat was virtually not existent; except in the minds of Bush’s credulous constituency. The truth of the matter is that our incursion into Iraq was motivated by financial gains that could be reaped from the country by a few corporations that had ties to Bush/Cheney. The war had nothing to do with the promotion of freedom, the defense of the oppressed and downtrodden, and it certainly had nothing to do with any eminent threat that Iraq posed to the United States with the usage of weapons of mass destruction. All those things were mere pretexts used to lull the unthinking and terrified post 9/11 public to consent to a war that had no legitimate moral grounds, and to rationalize our prolonged stay in that country after deposing the regime.

Put in a more blunt manner, unless the monetary incentive to invade a country is substantial this administration will not even lift a finger, even if the threat to life and limb is clearly evident. So much for Bush being the embodiment of Christian virtue.

That is why North Korea is allowed to conduct long-range nuclear tests with near impunity, and why Iraq and its citizens have been pummeled by the United States for having relatively innocuous armaments that you would find in almost any third world country. Now if we happen to find oil reserves in North Korea that rival Iraq or we find that North Korea is in a position that would make it an ideal candidate to construct a pipeline, like Afghanistan, than maybe we would assault them as well. Mmmm…I wonder what pretense we would use to appease the pseudo Christians and moralists who blindly believe that Bush and his administration are stellar moral beacons to the world. Maybe, crushing the spread of Godless Communism would be a good reason! That is always a tried and true enemy that consistently galvanizes the American people. Forget that the Communist movement is near extinction. After all, what does political reality have to do with blind idiotic patriotism run amuck?

First of all, I wasn't even aware that North Korea was launching missiles at us specifically. All North Korea is doing right now is testing unloaded missiles near the Sea of Japan. Most of them are failing shortly after launch. At this point in time, technically, North Korea's missiles have almost nothing to do with us.

Beginning a war with North Korea would be one of the worst presidential actions in the history of our country. A war was started with Iraq, because President Bush couldn't understand that the war with terrorism was NOT with Iraq The Country but with an underground terrorist organization within Iraq. President Bush's decision was incredibly hasty and it leaves us still asking the question, "why are we in Iraq?" It is President Bush's same hastiness that could possibly make him overreact to North Korea's missile testing and use military force against the country.

Check your facts before asking questions. They did not launch missiles at US! Of all the missiles they test fired, only one MIGHT have been able to reach the west coast. That one burned up 40 seconds into flight and fell into the Sea of Japan. Also, these missiles were not armed.

Now, North Korea testing missiles is a problem but you people can't have it both ways. Our President is trying to give diplomacy a chance to work. If we had taken military action you'd be whining that we just ran off to war without exhausting all diplomatic options. Make up your mind if it's possible. Our ar you just using this as another chance to bash my president?

I promise you, if diplomacy fails, we will take military action. Thank God for MY President.

For one, we're still engaged in the Iraq war, so to declare another war would be a mistake because of lack of resources. Two, Kim Jong, or whatever his name is, apparently isn't as bad a guy as Saddam is. His country's starving, and he's off his rocker, but he doesn't let his sons rape women or torture people on a regular basis. He just likes communism and is really, really hard-headed. I expect our govt has plans to either just let him die and see what his son is going to be like, or we're gonna go over there after Iraq is finished. Fortunately, I'll be out of this ****** up country by the time that happens!

Because they did not shoot any missiles 'at us' - or at our allies. They are merely making noise.

N. Korea's goal is to blackmail other countries into giving them money by threatening to sell missiles to terrorist nations.

for one the US tests missiles. Does that mean every time the US tests their missiles capability's someone should attack us? every country has the right to make sure they are able to defend themselves. if they cant then look what happens, my troops have to loose their lives to defend them.
