Because when a guy gets interest from others it strokes his ego. There is a chance, albeit small, that he really isn't looking, but is instead looking for affirmation that "he's still attractive". This will honestly have nothing to do with how much you say he's what you want. Short answer: he has a self-image, self-esteem issue.
or he's wanting to bang other chicks.
Could go either way.

Maybe he is insecure. I have to confess I have done the same thing and I love my fiance dearly. I have a deep fear of being alone and for a long time after he and I were together I kept my account open in the personals colums of a few dating sites. I never chatted with anyone and when approached I made it very clear I was already taken and not interested. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. Being insecure about looks and having been hurt before can make a person do some things that look shady and deceiving to others, but I honestly can say I have never done anything remotely unfaithful to my fiance. I guess I was afraid of losing him and not having anyone to be there.....I used it as a safety net. Please talk to him and find out why he is really doing this. Maybe he is up to no good, but in his defense, I havebeeen there and done it too and I can say for a fact things aren't always as they appear! Old emotional baggage can make us do some pretty crazy things! Good luck I hope everything works out for you two.

He might be an idiot, looking for something on the side. Or, he might be using that site just to see if women reply to him, for a boost on his ego. Doing that is still wrong when youre with somebody else. He might not be able to resist temptation one day and reply back to other women. Until you really catch him in the act, this is not a good enough reason to break up. You dont really know what his true intentions are. It could all just be psychological. Overall, he's got it all wrong. Talk to him about it and ask him how he would feel if you posted yourself in the personals. You know what would be funny...replying to his ad. If he replies back, youve got a problem. What would he do?

he is looking. if he wasn't he wouldn't post in the personals. you don't post in the personals looking for "friends". if he's posting in the personals he's bored and is looking for something new. i really hate to say this but i think he cares about you and doesn't want to break up with you but is looking for something on the side. be careful.
one of my very good female friends set up her bf when she found out he had a post in the personal and he took the bait. she was destroyed. maybe you should try the same thing to see if he will take the bait.

If a guy is seeing you secretly, it means he's looking. Guys don't keep their girls secrets unless they're looking. If he's really into you, he'll want everyone to know you're an item. I think I know this guy. Does his name start with a B? I taught him everything he knows. The little ****.

Because he has no intention of staying faithful to you and he is definitely looking if he has a personal ad out there. He's one of those "keep my options open in case someone better comes along", so he's a loser to the max. Lose him fast and never talk to him again!

you're seeing him secretly.... how many others are there in a secret relationship with him? he likes to keep his options open and secret! I'd answer his ad in the personals and see what happens!

He's not commited to you and don't know if he wants to be so he is still looking and keeping his options open. But you should let him no that you know so he don't think u are stupid and in the dark, I would go to him and ask him about it
