The New Testament was written by the first Disciples of Christ. Christ died around 33AD and the first manuscripts were circulating around 45AD. Another of the disciples finished his manuscript in the 50'sAD and another in the 60'sAD. Anyone know which was which? I can recall at the moment. However, Luke, in particular has been proven to be an accurate historian. He was a physician and kept very good records and accounts of things. All information he gives which can be checked has proven correct. A mistake has never been found. So, logic says that the uncheckable things must be accurate as well.

There was only about a 10 year gap between the end of Jesus' ministry and the eyewitness written accounts of what happened. Most people believe documents from ancient history which were discovered thousands of years after the fact and they accept them as accurate. Thousands of years vs. only a decade?

There is no question that the Bible is credible.

For the poster who brought up Newton and Jefferson.
They weren't there. They don't know.

Emmie - You should read the original texts and manuscripts instead of some 3rd party modern day author if you want facts. All translations of the Bible have been based on the original texts, not on previous translations. It's not some game of telephone or some bit of repeated gossip. If you are interested in real truth, go investigate the original documents instead of listening to some half wit modern day author who wasn't there and doesn't know what they are talking about.

There are none so blind as those who will not see...

If there was some mass conspiracy about Jesus' ministry, which is highly unlikely, it would have been impossible to keep it up and keep the cover up from being exposed. (Do you know anyone today who can keep a secret? How about a dozen people who can keep a secret? How about all of the multitude who were fed fishes and loaves of bread? Someone, you'd have thought, would have stepped up and exposed the miracles and the ministry if it was based on lies. Christianity has withstood the test of time because it is factual and it is the truth.

God has already said that not everyone will accept the truth. He gave us freedom of choice and many choose not to believe.

Here's a question Yoda: Why do non-believers spend so much time and frequent Christian topics to denounce what we choose to believe? One would think if non-believers didn't believe, they wouldn't waste their time discussing it. Seems they spend an awful lot of time and energy on something they do not believe in. Makes me wonder if they secretly are just wanting to be proven wrong?

Selnyk - Do you believe there was a man named Julius Caesar, simply because someone back then wrote it down on paper? Do you believe Alexander the Great really existed because someone wrote down that he did?

The bible is the most tested historical document ever. Many have TRIED to prove it wrong, only to be converted themelves in the process.

Just for the record, I am a Historian and can say that a good hoodwinker will cover his lies with truths. For example, if I want you to believe A is true, I will cover it over with facts around the time, so that if you check things that can be checked, you will find them correct and accurate. This way, I gain credibility and therefore more belief from my readers about things that can't be checked. I am not saying that Luke was a liar, but I am saying that he may have embellished on what he knew couldn't be checked (or maybe he didn't).

What I am saying is that things that can't be checked or verified are never facts... they are subjective interpretations of an event. So, although it would seem that your logic on the subject is infallible, it is not. The disciples had something to prove when they wrote the Bible, they wanted to validate Jesus' life and teachings in some way. They obviously did it well given the strength of Christianity in the world, but I am just saying... everything written must be taken with a grain of salt. Subjectivity will ALWAYS affect someone's writing. It is fact.

The problem is that we read translations of the original. As in any language there are figures of speech and expressions that belong to the culture those people. The Bible was translated in Greek with Greek figures of speech and expression and common sense, then from Greek to Latin with roman figures of speech and ex..., and from Latin to English after many many time. Doubting is not questioning the existence of Christ. I fluently speak 3 different languages and I know that certain expressions, translated the way they are don't get the idea of what is the real meaning. How can we be sure that whoever translated the bible knew exactly what it wanted to say?

The bible was edited by men, this makes it the word of man and therefore no more accurate than any other book. Christians have already proven themselves willing to forge historical writing to support their views

This is the only information from the period that mentions many of the things in the bible, no other historian corroborates what is in the bible, making it unreliable.

Even now, some of the more reliable withnesses writings are discounted because they don't agree with popular views of christians

Isn't it sad that no matter how much proof or documentation there is, some people will never believe. Most Christians would say they don't NEED the so-called "facts," as Jesus lives within us and no matter whatever the world discounts, or disbelieves...we stand firm in our belief and just wish with all our hearts that others would see the light. Faith like a child...so simple, and yet for some, so far a leap.

The Bible is the Biggest Ruse 2 hit the World & will always B discredited.
Half of it's been re-written 2 suit, had bits added Or taken away.
Some scriptures R missing entirely believed 2 B unimportant.
In 1 scripture found in the Red Sea Caves, it contains the words "U will not find me in buildings of Stone"

It's not been included in the any Bible - the Vatican would B defunct & unacceptable in Gods eyes!

It's been only 5 years since 9/11 and you can find all kinds of books that purport to tell 'the truth' of it but are filled with lies, fallacies and propaganda.

And that despite the fact that we have video evidence, unlike 2000 years ago.

Can you back any of that up with actual FACTS?
No, you can't. That's because the first "writers" of the NT weren't even born when the supposed "christ" died.
Not much in the way of eyewitnesses are they?
The fact is, this is mythology, nothing more. And no amount of your brand of Pious Fraud will change that.
Tell me, don't you christians EVER get tired of making up lies about your mythology in order to legitimize it?

Yeah, that's why two of the most brilliant men in history, Sir Isaac Newton & Thomas Jefferson, denounced it.

The bible was forged by people with an agenda.

The fact that Swedenborg wrote down the real Bible Code also testifies of the truth and accuracy of the Bible. Now you can know what Daniel and Joseph knew to interpret prophetic dreams and visions. However, I will not summarize, you have to work for it.

Very good.

And may I add that other writings be the Jewish Sages substantiate the truth of Jesus Christ.

Plus the archaeological evidence that has been found in places the BIBLE said events and cities had been built.
