I think our state governments would be ahead of the game to just open up a running tab with the Greyhound company, and start busing people back. Get em out of the country as quickly as possible, a budget airplane ticket back where they came from is way cheaper than anything else you could do, it'd minimize the impact on the american taxpayer, and it'd prevent us from having so many people walking around in america with nothing in their hands/pockets and a political chip on their shoulder...send em home, be quick about it, and start working on treaties with other countries so they can help with the problem, too. People don't just up and bolt out of their home country without cause, other nations need to be more on-the-ball in terms of treating/serving the needs of their poor. Ya can't have people living on one side of the street with all their worldly needs well-taken-care-of and expect the poor kids from across the road not to come over to 'play'...in that vein, the best thing for america would be to make sure that there's an initiative to actually INVEST in mexico, mexico could be a net exporter of food and manufactured goods, and for that matter, so could other countries that have been chronic pits of poverty. BUT: America's not the only country in the world with a couple bucks in their pockets. all these other nations that deal in oil, diamonds, gold etc. can start coughing up THEIR fair share of what it takes to take care of everybody. My wrinkled dollar says there's what amounts to a 'shadow economy' out there, financing the entire planet is more of a burden than americans can/should be asked to bear.
Our country is now TRILLIONS in debt, that's 12 zeroes with a 't', others can start using THEIR resources to aid their own damn people instead of just hitting up Uncle Sam for something everytime they need it. In that light, Mexico's fairly had a free ride in a lot of ways at our expense for a long time, and with them it's become a branch of their social sciences, an art form, if you will,
time for em to jump off the american sugar-tit and start discovering for THEMSELVES that the can be successful and independent.
I'm not saying 'dont help other countries'. I'm saying there should be an enlightened, informed way of doing so besides just inviting the entire country in question to basically move in with us. Our national 'gay marriage' to some chronic hopeless cases ultimately detracts from our country in a lot of ways, and since Mexico's on the bleeding edge of this issue, 'cause they're closest and mostest, maybe the long-term result of all this will be that we learn from our current and future dealings with that country and apply such sage lessons to other nations in the rest of the world, too. America's spent a lot of money, around the world, time for some other countries to use some of those profits to improve themselves and help their neighbors. With the average american family 10 grand in the hole, not counting the mortgage and car loan, haven't our politicians signed us up for ENOUGH chronic poverty already? How many people do YOU know that own their homes outright? Didya hear George Soros?
The US real estate market has now gone GLOBAL. We need some people to start investing in their OWN countries, and stop living off our mortgage payments. That's why homes now cost 200k, you're financing half the third world with your monthly payments...

What penalties do you have in mind for the illegal immigrants? Should they be beaten up before they're sent back? The latest legislation already provides for a number of former military buildings to be converted to holding cells for deportees.
Civil watch system - absolutely not. It'll turn people against people, tons of false reports, people reporting people they don't like and paranoia. If you offer money for reporting on a neighbor, every tom, dick and harry will try to make a fast buck by reporting people. Who's going to sort out this mess? and what should be the recourse for people who have been innocently reported? Should they sue the one who reported them?
Absolutely secure borders. Not possible. Not even realistic.

sounds like a witch hunt to me
this country is made up of so many different nationalities.
we have so many wonderful things to offer to those that want to come here
on the other hand we do need to take better care of our own, that our children lack in education, that it is cheaper to leave the country to get your medical & dental work done over seas.... we have our problems that we need to fix
over all we are a very rich country, yet our money doesn't get us many things of importance or value
the fact that the average family has to work far away from home, for long hours and sometimes multiple jobs just to survive is wrong
the fact that the majority of this nation is slowly losing the definition to the word community and the real meaning behind it....
we cannot go on a witch hunt for illegal immigrants, it would get out of control... we cannot build a wall, that is pointless
i do not know what we can do but i know we need to remember that we are all family, we are all related and that if we stay narrow minded we will end up a dieing race

I didn't start supporting them, not that I remember anyway, it was just something that was always in my life, also they were my local team when I was a kid LOL not really, I lived closer to Ibrox if I'm honest but why would my family bring me up supporting a sectarian team whos fans hated us just because we were Irish?, I liked the strip, my family and friends all supported the same team and no, I never supported another team other than Celtic, although I have went to Derry City and Cliftonville matches with friends that support them!

I might, but I think we need something more official than a civilian watch as well. And we need to dismantle the benefits magnets drawing them here.
I'd probably create a system more along traditional lines but making the federal government enforce the laws by being responsible for costs on education, health care, jails, etc for illegal immigrants and their families that do get through. I think one of the reasons the federal government found immigration laws so easy to ignore was that the financial hit is felt by state and local governments, not by the federal government.

Yes - more than likely. I used to think differently but my views have changed. I now see and realize what is happening when before I was thinking only has a human being with feelings. I see that hospitals are suffering. I see that I drive on a road that I helped pay for (they don't pay income taxes). I know they use identity theft in order to work. How much more identity theft can we take? It's the ONLY way they can get the right papers to get a job. Oh....so much more.

I agree with kubrickian- I live around nothing but drunk native americans and it wouldn't even be a problem if you didn't have a problem with hard working mexicans. You guys are a bunch of idiots. Don't you see that this is what our government wants is for you to argue about s**t like this so everyone will forget about the war across the sea. Who's worried about that? Any of you fools? Support our troops and stop worring about something that you or anyone else will ever be able to control.

Hell YES! renegade I not only support this great plan, I would lay down my life for it if I had to. So many Americans have turned into a selfish and dis-loyal bunch. They have lost their vision for our future. If sacrificing some luxuries and comforts ensures the future, safety and freedom of my grandchildren I'd give it all up. Our Government sitting back and doing nothing is already costing me anyway. I will support and sacrifice whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't cost my children and grand baby's. I would suggest that we all refresh our survival skills, learn to build a fire and hunt our own food.

Probably so, but I like the Guest Worker concept and the idea of earning citizenship if it can be done in a manner that secured the borders.
