It's bad in their eyes because the Bible tells them that magick is evil and so are any gods or goddesses that are not the Christian God. It's simply so ingrainned in their teachings that we'll have a difficult time convincing them otherwise for the rest of our lives. I make no attempt to hide the fact that I'm Wiccan, but I don't go around advertising it either. I wear my pentacle every day with pride, and when people ask me about it, I tell them I'm Wiccan and explain the concept to them. I would try to simply live your life as well as you can, and if you have the opprotunity to educate a few people about our religion along the way, then go right on ahead.
Blessed Be

You're gonna hate me for giving this answer, and I'm a Wiccan myself, but here it is anyway: it's because the Christian Church INVENTED the word 'witchcraft' to define things that defied its authority.
Before you say anything, 'Wicca is not Witchcraft', or 'Wicca whatever', hold on just a second and listen.
In the Middle Ages and so, when Christians were still converting Europe to their religion, they couldn't find a better way to do it than to demonize former religions. For instance, if they wanted to convert a Celtic community, they'd say their gods were disguised demons and that anyone who had prayed them should convert to Christianity or be called a 'Witch'.
No one was really a "witch". Sure, after a while, normal people heard about Witchcraft and they said "Hey, let's do it". But it wasn't a real religion that had 'real' profets or anything. The Church made it all up.
And Wicca is based both on the religions The Church eliminated AND partially on Witchcraft. Like, most covens pray a variety of gods from the Celtic Mythology, and use puppets and sometimes potions (not with the disgusting ingredients everyone knows, though)
The Church made up Witchcraft to define everyhing that was against it. And they see Wicca as a defiance to their power. That's why higher authorities in the Christian Church brainwash Christians into thinking Wicca is evil, because they can't stand defiance.

Becuase they're ignorant. plain and simple. Most Christians have little knowledge about their own religion, let alone others. Wicca is a form of paganism, a nature-based religion. It has nothing to do with worshipping the devil, which is what most Christians, due to lack of RESEARCH beleive. Notice I say most - becuase some Christians are quite intelligent, and don't judge others by their choices. After all, it was Jesus himself that said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"
It's not a Christian's decision if Wicca is bad. In their eyes, it should be between you and their god. YOU need to worry about you and ignore everyone else's ignorant tirades. Protect yourself and remember that witch hunts didn't end in the 1700's.
"When one defines oneself as Pagan, it means she or he follows an earth or nature religion, one that sees the divine manifest in all creation. The cycles of nature are our holy days, the earth is our temple, its plants and creatures our partners and teachers. We worship a deity that is both male and female, a mother Goddess and father God, who together created all that is, was, or will be. We respect life, cherish the free will of sentient beings, and accept the sacredness of all creation." Edain McCoy

Most christians believe that Wicca is based solely on witchcraft, which represents the devil and goes against God's plan. When you take God out of the picture it tends to upset a lot of people, most believe that there is only one God, this is why most WILL NOT accept any other religion other than their own.People don't want to accept the fact that you worship to the same person, whether male or female only under a different name.
Be proud of your religion and be at peace.

Christians (some of them) follow a monotheistic faith that, of course, historically developed out of paganism. They don't like to admit that, and claim that after a literal creation (which is a joke) mankind became sinful and then paganism developed
Wicca comes more directly out of Paganism. There is nothing wrong with it.
Not all Christians think there is. For example, in the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, there is a huge altar "the altar of the elements" where a group of pagans worship. Now mind you, St. John's is often referred to as "everyone else's Cathedral" because the diocese believes in ecumenism and shares its magnificent space.
Seriously, very few Episcopalians would have a problem with your faith. I for one have much more problem with fundamentalist Christianity, which abominates everything that Lord Christ stood for. I embrace you as a sister. Follow your path, it leads to the same end.
Kind regards,
Reynolds Jones

I think anything "non-Christian" is kind of looked at ignorantly as some pagan deviltry.
I was baptized Episcopalian - like Catholicism with a third less guilt.
I was born again in 1980....meaning...I accepted Christ in my life as my personal savior...that was a really big deal for me at the age of 19.
Then in 1990 - I went to war.
"No one prays for peace so earnestly as a soldier, for only a soldier knows the horrors of war."
In 1992 I went to Ireland and saw how Catholics and Protestants treat each other. These are Christians...that will spit on children...will throw stones at little girls...
And then I discovered Celtism...and the path of a warrior...
No more guilt.
Love your neighbor means just that...
not...
love your neighbor but only if they are Catholic and go to your church...
As a Celtic warrior if you are called to war,
and must kill to defend what you believe in:
...hearth and home - family - and certain humanistic rights...then your enemy deserves the right to meet his maker swiftly.
And Christians will blanch at that thought...
but it serves me well.
Practice what gives you a sense of charity and community...
practice what helps you heal others...
practice what gives you a sense of faith and completeness...
as long as you're not hurting yourself or others...no one has anything to say.
what is their problem you ask...?
I say it's a matter of ignorance and intolerance -
a narrow minded view of the world that is unrealistic and unsuitable for todays society.

A lot of people don't like Wicca, not just Christians, Jews probably have a problem with it, Muslims, Atheists...no offense, but to me personally, Wicca just sounds weird to me and I think many people Christians and non-Christians agree.

"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever." Romans 1:25
This is why I, as a Christian, don't think Wicca is right.

Honestly because the Bible teaches things dealing with your religion, like some of your religious practices, are wrong. And if they believe the Bible they are going to find your religion to be wrong. From what I know of it, it sounds just like practicing to be a witch or something. A lot of magic and spells. If you look in the Bible it condems those practicers of it.

People tend to fear that which they do not know. Fear leads to hate. Those Christians of which you speak are probably ones that are unfamiliar with our religion. They probably do not realize that it is much like their religion, but with a two part God, instead of a three part God. They do not realize that we live by many of the same principles that they do. That is why they hate us; it is only because they don't know any better, because they haven't bothered to look into it.
