Weel ya see, there are quite a few variables that determine wether I throw food away that has touched the ground. I ask myself a few questions...

1. How long has the item been on the floor? Over 10 seconds is a bit much for me.

2. What is the texture of the item? I'd rather pick a chip up off of the floor and eat it than a piece of candy of gum (ie...something with a moist or sticky outside to pick up all the freaking germs.)

3. What type of floor is it? Tile? Carpet? Outside?

4. Most importantly, is the floor clean? I'm not eating anything off a really dirty floor.

Hope this helps...

Depends on what the food is and where it dropped. Anything that hits the floor in a public place is a goner. At home, it depends......dry foods are ok, damp foods and wet foods probably will be thrown out. If my kids drop something on purpose in an attempt to not have to eat it at home, they will usually get it back regardless.

Depends on the floor, food dropped.

Public floor? Eeew- garbage!!

Private floor? I'll ask the person who keeps house if it's ok/clean.

My own floor? Depends on when I last swept, and what kind of food.... I have 2 dogs, so there's always TONS-O-HAIR all over (unless I've swept in the last 15 minutes, so...

If the food is dry- a chip?- I'll pick it up and blow off the hair.

Damp or wet- salsa? get a paper towel and then pitch it.

i always throw food out that hits the floor as a floor is full of germs and other matters you can't get rid of by just rising the dropped food under water

me? i follow the "3 second rule". if it was on the floor for more than 3 seconds, i throw it away. i heard that in 3 seconds, a lot of the bacteria that was on the floor, gets on the food and you shouldnt eat it anymore

I throw it in the garbage anytime I drop food, doesn't matter who's floor it is on

Most of the time. It also has a little to do with where the food is dropped.

Obey the three second rule - if its on the floor for less than 3 seconds it all good to eat (unless the floor is proper skank then you throw!)
