This is what wikipedia has to say about herpes :

The herpes simplex virus (HSV) (also known as Cold Sore, Night Fever, or Fever Blister) is a virus that manifests itself in two common viral infections, each marked by painful, watery blisters in the skin or mucous membranes (such as the mouth or lips) or on the genitals. The disease is contagious, particularly during an outbreak, and is incurable with present technology. Research has currently shown that a person can still be contagious (actively shedding virus) up to 7-10 days after the blister has healed.[citation needed] During this time, the asymptomatic person should be extremely careful (washing hands frequently; not touch the blister area, etc.) since transmission is still possible. An infection on the lips is commonly known as a "cold sore" or "fever blister," though this should not be confused with a canker sore, which appears inside the mouth and is not caused by the herpes simplex virus.

So I guess if someone with herpes has a blister that's burst on the toilet seat, and the time frame is correct, the virus has not died out, then you could get herpes.

The chances of contracting herpes from a toilet seat after someone with herpes uses the toilet seat is incredibly low. The infected person using the toilet seat first would have to rub his/her infected area on the toilet seat, and then the person following would have to rub his/her genitals on the same area of the toilet seat immediately thereafter to contract the virus. Even so, the chances are still very low because the following person may not coming into direct contact with the infected area, as could happen during sexual activity. You can always take extra precautions by using disinfectant on the toilet seat between uses, or by using a disposable seat protector. If you are worried that you have contracted the virus, please see a physician who will be able to diagnose and treat your condition.

No you can't, The virus lives on the skin and dies extremely rapidly when not in it's preferred environment. It should be remembered however that herpes also manifests as cold sores around the mouth (somehting which ~90% of the population will be infected with) so it is always possible for you to catch herpes from just about anybody if they go down on you either whilst they have a coldsore or whilst the virus is shedding (which has no visible signs).

My best friend has had genital herpes for about eight months now, and it's been really rough. She's had about 7 outbreaks. Everywhere I read it says it stops flaring up so much after time, but its not getting less frequent for her. She's been on Antiviral meds the whole time, too. She also has type 1 diabetes which she has had her whole life, which really weakens her immune system. Will it ever get better?

But after a friend share this video everything has changed.

It's highly unlikely that you would get a sexually transmitted disease (STD), such as chlamydia or genital herpes, from a toilet seat. Most STDs are transmitted only during sexual contact, either by skin-to-skin contact or through exchange of bodily fluids. The microorganisms — bacteria and viruses — that cause STDs tend to be highly sensitive to environmental conditions and can't survive outside the human body for very long.

very unlikely, unless someone has been wiping their scabs all over it.

Don't be silly. The only thing you can get off of modern toilet seats is wee wee drips and poo bits !

Hover, its a lot less bother!
