I personally have taken the drug as well as my oldest daughter has when she was dealing with her lukemia. I understand what you are going through. Since my daughter had to take it for a really long time, a few years, I had to learn some tricks to help do the best that I could to help her with her symptoms since she was a child.
For one I would limit the amount of the carbohydrates and salt in take that she ate. The reduce amount of salt as well as the low carbohydrates helped with the weight gain as well as the swelling that is part of the side effects of the drug. Of course I am suspecting that you are also possibly suffering from the mood swings, right? Here is what I did with her as well as with me when I had to take it for several months due to an eye condition. When we were going into a bad mood mode-we would take deep breaths and count or we would go to our room and rant into a pillow. It allowed our bodies to calm down the emotional effects as well as allowing us to let the emotional wave hit and go away.
Also, if you feel that you can't sit still long enough because you feel that you have all this built up energy do what I did- cleaning spree baby! I was scrubbing wood work, base boards, and such. I know that this always helped me-plus I got the best compliments about how clean my house was!!

I take predisone for very sever asthma attacks. The only side effect I have is a false sense of energy. And in 5 days and back to my normal self. The dosage I take is a step down dosage, you take 5 the first day, 4the second, 3 the third, 2 the fourth and 1 on the last day. it seems to work fine for me.

I have taken it several times. I have MS and it shrink the swelling in your brain so nerve signals can once again get through. Usually is a 2 week course when I take it, unless I have to take it intravenously at the the hospital then I am in there for three days. There are people who also are on it for asthma.

I'm taking it for Poison oak. it took care of new break outs and is doing the job! I'm on a low dose, started at 30mg a day now down to 20mg. Only side effect I've noticed is a bit of water retention.

Do you mean prednisolone? This is a steroid and l have taken it for Crohn's disease for many years. Side effects include: face becoming rounder, hunger, weight gain and in long term use higher risk of osteoporosis.
Why don't you try looking on the website medicinenet.com This will give you more information.

Been on and off it now for over 10 years for ITP, but now taking Amantadine as well to combat fatigue as I have MS as well. My count is normally single figures but the last couple of tests it has been 350+ with the Amantadine (well we think that's what has made it shoot up) - might not work for every one though !!

My daughter used to take prednisolone (if that's what you mean), when her asthma was bad. Little pink tablets that were supposed to dissolve in water, but never really did.
