I would give something personal -- it sounds like your friend may already have (or has experienced) all of the gifts people have mentioned so far. Make a copy of your favorite picture of just the two of you, and place it in a beautiful frame, suiting to your friend's taste. I think an ever-present reminder of your friendship will be the best present you can give.

Do you have (or can you get) a photo of the two of you?? Put it in a pretty frame and "autograph" it with your thoughts.

You can also put together a container (sounds like she would not be into 'baskets') maybe a glass or silver wine bucket and include your photo (in frame), wine opener, cork replacement, couple of crystal glasses, etc. If you have the money, have the bucket engraved.

If you have a Pier One or something similar, the above items would not be very expensive. The engraving would have to be done at an engraving shop (look for trophy shops, etc)

Sounds like your friend already has everything, but why not put together or have a professional put together a gift basket with his/her favorite martinis components, favorite wines and certificates to local restaurants or clubs that is frequented. Obviously this friends has been close with you and you should know their preferences. Fill the basket with goodies that you know they like. Or, if you are in the same income level, maybe include a weekend get away to one of their favorite spots.

On the other hand, if your friend truly has everything maybe he/she would like it if you made a donation in their name to their favorite cause or charity.

Some of the most meaningful gifts that I've received have been simple pieces of jewlery. Good taste doesn't have to be expensive, but a beautiful bracelet, pin, etc. can be a wonderful reminder of the relationship, especially when it's worn.

Why not compile some photos you have taken with your friend during various times , funny ones, memorable ones, sentimental ones etc.. in a really classy like photo album. I made one , one time for a family and added funny quotes to them in a quote bubble. I drew the quote bubbles with a marker on the see- through covering of the album (not the photo) and when they looked at the photos and read the funny quotes they had a great laugh. Even now when they look at it, it still makes them laugh. It a way of making memories precious.

You can make a gift basket by decorating the basket with ribbons and wrapping it with tulle. Throw in a little of everything....wine, scented candles, spa products, a framed picture of you and your friend. Make sure to fill the gaps with shredded colored paper.

A book on art or travel. The coffee table kind. Season tickets to the ballet or opera. Tickets to a sporting event. Spa treatments. I'm thinking unisex as you did not mention male or female.

The least expensive CD you can find at a store that is really really random and stupid. When they open it say that you knew they didn't really want this CD but you felt that you needed to give something because you love them and there is nothing you could give that would express that love.

A good-quality liquor box made of wood with a brass lock would be fine for him to keep his expensive spirits under lock and key.
