Have you treated the cover for dust mites? A mild pyrethrin based product shouldn't cause any problems for your bird as long as you have aired it sufficiently after washing it.

Keep the bird covered at night-- It's better to deal with a little bit of neurotic sneezing than to wake up to a sick bird or worse-- a dead one. If your sure the bird isn't sick, try changing the location of the cage , and the type of bedding(like stated above). If this has been going on for a long time then maybe it's just the way your bird is--

try not covering it up and also changing whatever is on the bottom of the cage for something else or new - there could be something irritating, dust particles, otherwise i cant see why it coincides with the covering up - it has to breath the air under the cover that may be somehow bad.

is it really necessary to sleep all nigt under cover?? through the whole night as you put it? seems to me that even if there was too much light, it would get better sleep than this way - coughing all night. or you can un-cover her when YOU go to sleep and switch off the light - indeed i dont much understand the covering issue - are u sure that it is what it is supposed to be??

sometimes canaries sneeze just because they like the way it feels. other times it is to attract attention, which is apparently working. yes your baby need to be covered at night. the best covering that i have found is a cotton sheets..white only. another suggestion is to purchase apple bitters from your local pet store. if there is any allergy to dander, this is the only product that will fix it. also, never put your baby to bed wet or even damp. that can cause sneezing, without making the baby sick.
