For several months I have been out. My skin ranges from extremely sensitive at best to severely itching, getting bad enough to cause a jerking reflex reaction to a pinpoint pain caused by the irritation.

I have seen a lot of docs and taken lots of tests with no resolution, so I am looking for causes other than liver ailments and allergies - something tat wouldn't show up in a typical blood tests, urinalysis, MRI, EEG, or ultrasound.

Seen psychologist to rule out psychosematic, stress, or anxiety. Lots of liver tests. tried lots of different moisturizers. No rashes, bumps, etc. except as result of itching. Lots of good stuff so far - keep them coming - hopefully someone will hit on something I haven't thought of or been tested for (so far seen psychologist, dermatlogist, neurologist, internal medicine, gastrolonigist). Stress was nominal when it started.

I have bouts of itching that, sometimes, last for months. Mine is hives...(urticaria). Different things can cause this condition. I have lupus, so the sunlight and other types of lighting usually causes it for me.

However, ppl without lupus can have hives from things like cold air, pressure against their skin, nerves....it really varies. You need to have a skin biopsy done.

Actually, my first symptom of lupus was a slight rash on my arms...that turned out to be hives from photosensitivity. Just to be on the safe side....as your doctor for an ANA test...it is a simple blood test.

Feel free to email me, if I can be of any help.

It could be that your nerves are causing this. You may want to think about anything that has been stressing you out for a while and try to solve that problem to releive the itching. If you are breaking out anywhere on your body then you may consider adding a cup of bleach or clorox to your bath water for a nornal size bath tub and 2 cups if a large bath tub.Take a bath this way for a week or so and try to do it twice daily.Avoid getting the water in your eyes, this can cause your eyes to get irritated and try not to breathe too much of the bleach when adding it as this can cause other problem but it is perfectly safe to do once it is mixed with the water.

Good luck and i will say a prayer for you

Pruritus (itching) usually are caused by liver problems... in your case in which you did not elaborate on your signs and symptoms.. i have no idea.. it could be a contact dermatitis or some kind of skin infection... usually steroids are being used to treat these... but any diagnostic procedure to detect you ailment would be difficult to find...

If your skin is extremely sensitive, you could be experiencing allergic reactions to just about everything, and not even realize its something you could be having a reaction to. Otherwise...it could very well be some type of skin disorder that you would have to go see a specialist about. Good luck! Keep me posted, I will keep you in my thoughts!

scabies??? some times docs misdiagnose it as eczema. Get your doc to check you for that. I know a kid who was treated for eczema for over a year until one doctor said it was scabies..got treated and poof ....better.

Whatever it is keep going to doctor until you get relief.

Stress or "nerves" can cause hives sometimes.
